Kanye West - The College Dropout

When the music scene gets tough and things aren’t quite hitting as they used to, this album reminds me why I love music. No one else could have done it like Mr. FUCKIN’ West, and even though he’s become one of the most polarizing figures in recent memory.. this album holds true as a definitive, hood classic.

Though it has [JOE HAWLEY CREATIVE CONTROL] which can be seen as a major downside for many, I still really do believe this album is something unique. It’s not as intensely bombastic or creative as Marvin’s, and most of the sounds on this album aren’t as experimental and maybe could have used a refining or two. Nevertheless when this album hits this album HITS. Never Meant to Know may be one of my favorite songs in their entire discography, Fate of the Stars is dreamy as hell, ... read more

Relaxed and Introspective and Emotional, I especially like this album when put back-to-back with Mac’s other works. It feels refined, mature, and it really knows how to tug a good heartstring or two.. all this and it still retains what makes Mac DeMarco such an interesting and unique indie artist. Those buttery smooth vocals and then serene but catchy slacker instrumentals.. This Old Dog is so hard not to fall in-love with.

This is my favorite album of all time. While I feel like Mr. West himself is a very polarizing and flawed person in real life , and this album can be viewed as him very blatantly advocating for himself.. I dunno man, this is one of the most interesting and creative albums I’ve ever listened to. This album is not a piece of music but some sort of thing that’s evolving, it’s messy, it’s a clusterfuck, and it can feel a little bit long at times, not to mention it feels ... read more

On BurntWater's review of Joe Hawley - Joe Hawley Joe Hawley
"I agree mostly, I feel the random chaotic nature can really work for a goofy album like this especially with the instrumentation used but Joe Hawley just cannot help himself but to put some stupid ass filter over it to make it sound robotic and so much worse and ect. For a man with genuinely good musical ability as proof by his older work it’s a shame he goes out of his way to ruin it half the time."
