That being said, this record is also pretty trash and immensely disappointing, and this is coming from someone who loved Bags and Sofia, two of the lead up singles to this record. Unfortunately, Clairo doesn't really capitalize on the moody sense of longing her music has the capability of conjuring to create a truly personal and intimate album experience. Instead, we get a pretty tepid hodge-podge of auto-tuned vocals and watery synths that lack any real conviction or artistic integrity, all meshing into one another without any real sonic identity. I truly expected and hoped that Clairo would be able to dispel all the negativity shes garnered because I think it's a bit harsh, but unfortunately her music proves she isn't yet capable of doing so.
