Red is the most Taylor Swift-esque album of them all. Technically, it’s her only true breakup record, yet it brilliantly explores both the highs and lows of a breakup. She absolutely broke the so-called 'fourth album curse.' Red will always be iconic.
THIS is the best Taylor Swift album for me. The storytelling, the phrasing, the way she expresses emotions is simply wonderful. It’s a coming-of-age record, and maybe her most perfect one. The way she shifts between different styles is fantastic. There’s truly some kind of magic in Speak Now.
By now, it’s considered one of her classic albums. Sometimes I forget that this wasn’t actually her debut. It’s absolutely clear why it became her breakthrough. Unfortunately, it’s hard to overlook the awkwardness of 'Change'. Also it mixes country and pop really well. The whole album feels like flipping through a teenage girl’s diary—in the best possible way. 'You're not sorry' and 'Tell me why' are criminally underrated...
