The Ramones try to become the Punk Beatles, and it goes over only mildly well. With the dated 80s production, butt rock solos and Joey's grating voice on the poppier tracks, there aren't many bangers here, but the diversity and experimentation kind of make up for it. The songs move away from their earlier one-note punk rock shenanigans and veer more into a summer jams vibe, and it kind of works, although not as well as it could.

Some of the band's best tracks are in this album, but it also got some of their most forgettable songs so far, so it's a bit of a mixed bag. It's nice to see them experimenting with some pop rock sensibilities, while still delivering their usual punching punk rock energy, which is clearly their biggest strenght.
Favorite track: I Just Want to Have Something to Do
It's more or less more of the same catchy melodies and power chords combo, and it works as well as it always did, but I can start to feel the novelty slowly wearing off, and there are less bangers here in comparison to the last albums to make up for it.
Favorite track: Sheena Is a Punk Rocker
Keeping on with the momentum of its predecessor, it tries some new stuff, with song structures that go beyond just power chords, and shows up with undeniably better production value, but on the other side, there's more filler in here. The band's authenticity and energy is for sure still present, along with some bangers, but it's just generally not as captivating as the debut.
Favorite track: Swallow My Pride
In their debut, the boys were mostly just attitude, and it was more than enough to make their album, which sounds like just a bunch of guys fucking around in a garage, one of the most remarkable records of their time. It's very fun, and it really makes you feel the raw energy that came with being a punk rocker in the 70s, and some damn catchy tunes to go along with it.
Favorite track: Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue
How did I like it so much? It's got sick ass riffs and isn't too one-note, ranging from the hyper-aggression of the Iowa era to melodic and atmospheric moments, and even though I'm not too big on the layered harmonized clean vocals, and it undeniably falls off in the second half, I still find this record surprisingly good.
Favorite track: Yen
I'm not too fond of how long the songs are on this album, as it makes what would be an otherwise amazing record feel a bit sluggish. That said, I really enjoyed this one. The interludes are mostly inoffensive and sometimes even contribute to a more conceptual feel, and the band shows their energy and creativity on weirder tracks such as Spiders and A Liar's Funeral, without losing their characteristic sound.
Favorite track: Critical Darling
Yeahh... I don't vibe with this one as much as their previous works. It still got some pretty strong tracks, namely The Devil in I, Killpop and maybe Custer, but the rest of it just miss the mark, even if by a tiny bit. The record undeniably got a punch to it, and their raw agression from their early albums come back, even if in a more polished way, and I can't say there was a truly bad song, just some mediocre and forgettable ones.
Favorite track: The Devil in I
During my high school angsty teen phase, I couldn't shut up about these guys, and this was the album that started it all for me. Coming back to it years later, I was ready to be disappointed, but I wasn't. The bangers still bang, Snuff hits harder than ever, and even the deep cuts hold up. The middle section drags a bit, but it's still a solid, heavy, groovy metal record and one of the band's greatest works.
Favorite track: Snuff
Call them sellouts as much as you want, the band thrives in the new direction taken in this album, the catchy hooks, more structured songwriting and occasional clean vocals works wonders in showing the versatility they have, and some of the group's best bangers are found in this record. May get a bit too stale, especially on the last few tracks, but it holds its own very well.
Favorite track: Duality
In a day where I'm really pissed off, this album might be perfect, but in any other situation there's just too much hammering down the same hyper-agressive guttural double-kicking type of songs, and even if its aggression is easily the album's biggest strenght, I feel it also becomes its biggest weakness, doubling down on that aspect in exchange of the fun factor that was still present in the debut.
Favorite track: People = Shit
The more I listen to this, the more stuff I find to enjoy. The songs really grow on you, and the band’s usual intensity is in full force. The compositions hit hard as hell while still making you feel a lot too, and it honestly feels like the band back at their best. It expands on the less gloomy vibe of the previous album’s title track really well, especially on tracks like infinite source and milk of the madonna, which show they still fucking got it.

Somehow, it sounds more consistent than the band's previous works, with some songs, especially the title track, that don't sound like anything else they've ever done. It's still intense, but continues to suffer with the band's usual songwritting formula. Nothing mindblowing, but it's a good record.
Favorite track: Ceremony
This album made me realize I might be getting a bit tired of Deftones' sound, and since this album didn't have much to offer besides the usual bread and butter, it doesn't get me as much. Still it has some good songs and might be a better listen if I'm in the right mood for it, but overall I just ain't feeling that much.
Favorite track: Xenon
It's a very biting album, more focused on keeping the dark, heavy and moody atmosphere throughout the tracklist, and it works wonders for its purpose. Very strong project, but I feel it loses me a bit after a while, since it plays it safer than I would hope for it to, becoming just short of being truly great. Still, I for sure will be coming back for more.
Favorite track: Goon Squad
Besides Sextape and some nice vibes, I don't really get the insane praise this album gets. Maybe it will grow on me over time, but for now, I ain't feeling all that. One thing I gotta give props for this album is that it's hella consistent. I wouldn't say there's a bad song in here, even if I definitely enjoyed some of them more than the others. It shows the band's still got it even 15+ years in their career.
Favorite track: Sextape
A pretty intense album, and probably their most melancholic work yet, with the tracks blending into this shoegazey fog that sinks into you and twists your insides around. Also somehow their horniest record, mostly carried by songs like Cherry Waves and Beware, which along with a few others feature some of their best scream-along choruses since White Pony. Heavy and atmospheric in equal measure. Consistency holds it back though, with some forgettable stretches in between the bangers, and ... read more
