The true, Godspeed You!esque post-rock Maruja is doing here is fucking great. And this was purely improvised? Bullshit.
It’s great Post-Rock and Post-Punk while being less pissed about the government!
Filled with wonderful messages and jawdropping production, Maruja EP1 shows an incredible amount of promise to the band.
Maruja formed in 2016, but never fully started their own music until 2023 with the release of Knocknarea. Self-releasing the album, Maruja gained incredible traction and visibility through how unique and political the music and lyrics are, for good reason. This EP fuckin’ slaps. through the entire 22 minutes runtime.

While there’s less grandiose moments on her debut album, Phoebe’s prelude to Punisher provides heartbreaking, emotional songwriting and gutting instrumentals.
After relistening to Punisher and it reigniting my love for music, I thought, “hm, Phoebe’s debut gotta be on the same level, right?”. I, shockingly, was correct. It maintains vulnerability and melancholy throughout. While being entirely honest and interesting with its songwriting and preformance.

I really like the production for this song… just, these vocals can be addictive sure but they’re also annoying at times.
It manages to be ethereal and interesting throughout its long journey. Just like the band itself.
King Crimson’s Red is their 6th studio album and when their lineup was the smallest. The 3, Wetton, Fripp and Bruford, with some of the original members coming back for some tracks. They manage to make a masterpiece of an album while having minimal help. Especially after only being around for 5ish years, that’s insane!

April, you’ve said good luck to me like 12 times I think I have enough luck.
The extra tracks on Wallsocket are phenomenal. The noisy but dancy My guy, the vulnerable and lengthy CCTV, there’s alot to take in for the deleted scenes and the world of Wallsocket.
Favourites: My guy (Corporate shuffle), Northwest zombie girl, Stupid (Can’t run from the urge)
No Favourites: CCTV
The Code was a much deserved win, but I’m sure as well wouldn’t have minded if this song won. The wonder mix of heavenly harmonies and absolute stellar production proves Ukraine is a goated country. Slay bitches.
One of the view Eurovision songs where I feel both the Live and Studio versions are absolutely stunning.
The short but charming Fête de la Vanille may be considered one of the best Digicore projects of all time, but the length leaves a lot to be desired.
Favourites: I Am, She Is, We Are, How to Pretend, Knot Me
