Thank fucking Christ this is good.

As a sad, lonely and completely biased Stan of this group, I was worried sick for this album. BROCKHAMPTON is one of my absolute favorite rap groups, with irridesecence being one of my favorite albums of last year. So, when the singles were slightly underwhelming, I got worried SICK. Not that the singles were truly bad or anything, but when nothing connected the first time I heard the lead singles, especially when BROCKHAMPTONs single game was usually fantastic. So, when I went into this album, I expected this thing to fucking suck.

And what happened was truly magical.

This album is the anti-irridesence. If irridesecence was the panic attack, then GINGER was the comforting friend helping you get out of the panic attack state. If your going into this album expecting banger city, then you are gonna be disappointed. This isn't an album to send to the moshpit, this is a healing record you put on in the dark times. It's very subdued and warm sounding, like an album equivalent to a umbrella in the rain. It's a safety net filled with supportive instrumentation and loving and personal verses that really humanize the members in the group. This is deffinitly the most emotional collection of tracks the group has ever made, with lots of bright, summery, yet blue sounding and comforting sounds the just made me smile from head to toe.

This is definitely also BROCKHAMPTON sounding their most boy band-ish. The more melodic and pop centric songwriting throughout this entire record makes this one of the most accessable albums in the acts discography, sounding as if it was a rainbow after a rainy day. Moments like 'DEARLY DEPARTED' and 'NO HALO' show the group at their most vunerable and open. Moments like 'SUGAR' and 'LOVE ME FOR LIFE' show the group delivering some of their most poppy songs to date. But at the same time, the group are still delivering mind melting bangers such as 'ST. PERCY, 'IF YOU PREY RIGHT', 'I BEEN BORN AGAIN' and 'HEAVEN BELONGS TO YOU' (with SLOW
-ASS-THAI). It's BROCKHAMPTON at their most versitile.

This is the album I goddamn needed right now. It's so soothing. It's a pot of gold that warms the heart like a good chicken soup, but with enough excitement and creativity to bring this group to the height of their potential. This has some of the best tracks the group have made, period. And it's also the most consistently quality realeses the group has made to date. Goddamn, prey for GINGER ladies and Gentlemen.

Favorite Jams: DEARLY DEPARTED, ST. PERCY, NO HALO

Lest Favorite: GINGER
