UK drill overall is pretty stagnant. Few artists are doing anything remotely different (Loski and E1 3x3 come to mind as the few that are slightly unique). Many of the best rappers are more involved in gang activity than actual music and that causes the music quality to suffer. Also, hard bars and disses are encouraged by most fans which causes censorship of the songs leading to little money to be made (sucks to not have the first amendment). Most drillers can't afford good production and a majority of the best albums/mixtapes in uk drill are mixed terribly.

What makes UK drill unique is the close link between real life gang activities and the lyrics in the song. You don't really see American rappers constantly flexing and name-dropping real murders/attacks and you don't see a great percentage of American rappers going to prison for violent crimes. The violent nature surrounding UK drill limits it from having artists that are dedicated and last more than a few years. A driller really has to drop the gang activity and violent persona (and UK drill in general) to go mainstream (Headie One is a perfect example of someone who did this).
