I love the psychedelic genre so much. The soundplay, the sonic layers, the multitude of effects at play, it's the boundaries of audio being pushed further and further. Tame Impala's Kevin Parker knocks that out of the park and then some on "Lonerism". This entire album was recorded by just one person, but it's kind of hard to tell since he's so damn good at every instrument here. The mix is also top notch, with the drums packing an unbelievable amount of punch, the incredible basslines being heightened to an eargasmic degree and the overall textures of this album being some of the best the psychedelic rock genre has seen to date. The lyrics, while not a total highlight, are prominent enough to talk about. Themes of loneliness and abandonment are sprinkled throughout this record, with some great lines too. Add to that a multitude of amazing sonic moments, an insane amount of attention to detail and absolute BANGERS of songs, and you have what is quite possibly one of the best rock albums of the 2010's!
