i've been on a bit of postmodern indie listening binge and the rest are alright to pretty good but arctic monkeys had lightning in a bottle with this
80s emocore in 2026?? we're SO back
this has the 80s DC energy and the shredded vocals to go along with it
listening to this fried as slayyyter intended and this is even more beautiful than before
okay i might be too into electronic atm to see the brilliance in this (and i'm 100% a slayyyter glazer so wgia$ is js gonna be higher anyway) but U was a good project that didn't do it for me as it did for seemingly everyone else . and i'm sure the same thing can be said by fans of underscores who may listen to slayyyter or tiffany day's projects . i'm definitely gonna revisit this and see if my rating changes
this feels very of its time in that it's something i'd expect my parents to play . a lovely album, ending of downtown lights is peak
i was never into the smiths too much . and then i put on i know it's over and realised how much i missed her when i shouldn't and when she does not feel the same like an absolute cornball and it clicked
how does he keep getting more boring ? and why does everyone keep praising him for it ?
this is lacking in any kind of personality and i'm not sure how to describe it other than "anyone could have made this album" . he sings like he's featuring on his own songs, does the absolute minimum production-wise, and is gonna inspire the next earbleeds of benson boone's and alex warren .
thought to revisit this . watched a video on her last performance in belgrade, can never seem to get over the humiliation ritual that gig was as well as her last week or so . one of the best albums
incel-coded emo rap in ur 20s, even in 2020, is actually embarassing
death bed isn't the worst . it's a one-hit wonder at best and boring at worst . the rest of this is nothing special, very reminiscent of the sadboy lofi hip hop in the late 2010s so i can see how someone like powfu got so popular . his voice reminds me of one of these songs that were also popular at the time, don't cry by sadeyes, the genre is almost a monolith . i can't believe ivri was on this LOL . and ... read more
some sick sound design on here . haven't loved wisp's music in particular but i have been loving hearing her influence on other artists .
in retrospect of "the theory of you", u can hear her sonically turbulent, more angsty but still angelic sound on tracks like 'face of the earth' which is far more distorted than any other track on here, potentially feeling out of place for some listeners . ivri already has such an interesting artistic direction in terms of ... read more
there was a lot of effort into making sure this sounds dream-like but not much else . maybe an odd comparison, but i feel a good example of music that's more focused on sound and feeling more than anything else is cloud rap and carti's 2018 'die lit' LOL . these are two vastly different genres but what they're trying to accomplish does feel similar in goal though different in execution . wisp has the sonic potential but, for me, this album lacks any real substance or ... read more
seeing her live on her uk tour so thought i'd give the album a listen c:
absolutely adore tower of memories, i was expecting an alternative-metal inspired sound going into this (and seeing a song called "hole in the moon" on this tracklist LOL) but it actually manages to become something else other than a deftones knock off . i enjoy the switches between soft/stripped back guitar and an all-encompassing burst of strings . it sounds as vulnerable as ivri wishes it to with her ... read more
really must be missing something because this album is almost boring to listen to . i was really excited to listen to it as i put on random access memories one random afternoon and it became one of my favourite albums but discovery holds no interest at all . i wish this was trolling or ragebait LOL if someone could rewire me to enjoy this as much as everybody else seems to it would be greatly appreciated . goddamn :/
this album started my weird dependency on slowcore (if u could call it that) four years ago now
i've acquired a weird taste for this genre and it seems some of the worst songs it's produced like the cover of last friday night . with any art, ur worst crime is being boring and that boredom can be utilised for artistic expression too if done right .
i'll be okay takes me back to a very specific time of my life that consisted of staring at the wall, crying, feeling hungry, feeling ... read more
