While incredibly mature and honest in its writing, GINGER suffers in the sound department. Boring vocal performances, bland production, and the SATURATION I pitfall of voice effects that detract more than they add all hold this record back from capitalizing on its lyrical content. I wish I could give it a higher rating given how much heart was clearly put into writing these songs, but while my brain was impressed, my ears were not.

While lacking the full power current of SATURATION III, iridescence has vulnerability in spades. It’s some of BROCKHAMPTON’s most honest and personal music to date, while still utilizing their classic sounds and techniques. We do get an interesting switch up in the form of grand, sweeping orchestral instrumentals on certain songs, which work surprisingly well as backdrops to their rapping. And while Ameer’s absence can be felt, the other members do pull their weight, doing ... read more

This album FUCKS.

I guess I could just leave it at that, but allow me to elaborate a bit. This is absolutely my favorite piece of the Saturation trilogy, no contest. Number 1 was okay, Number 2 was pretty good, but this one...Just *chefs kiss*
Ameer’s style hasn’t really changed at all, but it’s always been pretty good, so I’m not complaining. But Kevin and Merlyn are probably my favorites throughout the LP (though Joba’s verse on BOOGIE deserves an honorable ... read more

I’m not exactly what it is, but something about Saturation II clicked for me where Saturation didn’t. The production seems better, the different group members play off one another better, it’s just a lot more enjoyable to me. It still has a few tracks that sit too slow compared to everything else, but overall, this is a pretty good rap record.

Highlights:
GUMMY
QUEER
TEETH
SWAMP
JUNKY

Lowlights:
GAMBA
SUNNY

I’ve been super hyped to check out the Saturation trilogy given the love that fans on this website and beyond have for it. But this record has me...disappointed? Don’t get me wrong, it’s better than All-American Trash, but I was not drawn in by the majority of the songs here. The lyrics are pretty great on most of the songs, but the sonic content on this record just couldn’t pull its weight in comparison. The vocal effects were a major turn off for me. I’m not ... read more
