Sidhu Moose Wala - Moosetape

rest in peace Sidhu Moose Wala.

This is a sound that is very unfamiliar to me, and I (possibly ignorantly) thought it was very repetitive at times. That said, the craftsmanship and engineering on this project is just top notch. There is a lot of "classic hip hop" sound in the beats, as early as the opening intro track, reminding me of earlier Eminem, although it's definitely still distinct from western hip hop in every sense.

The first track that really wowed me was Signed to God, ... read more

This 54-year old album somehow released in 2004 takes the sounds of the 60's and 70's and puts that aesthetic into the most disgusting lyrical palette imaginable. This is def the h*rniest album I've ever heard, and not in a Weezer way where I don't mind it. The styles on this LP range from "Ford's truck month" on Primitive Condition to "Billy Idol's Mony Mony (one of my least favorite songs of the 80's)" on Loose n Juicy. Sometimes there's some interesting instrumental ... read more

This album is verrrrrry boring. That said, there are some really impressive atmospheres and even some hype/spooky moments, but 10 good minutes in an hour+ project does not a good album make. I like the first track the best but they kinda all sound the same.

I'm giving this album a like despite it only be a 79, because when this project goes hard, it goes HARD. There are only three tracks you really need to appreciate this. Pixel Heart is a perfect way for the listener to open their ears to this LP (too long to be an EP) as it eases you in with its sweet vocals, repetitive buildup, and synthy drop. Cutter is by far the best and hardest, building off the formula previously established with a glitchy drop and nostalgic Skrillex-type ad-libs--but that ... read more

No one would be caught making an album like this today, but that dated-ness also makes it timeless in a way. This album is Blank Banshee x Tally Hall x Vocaloid, and I feel like that is a 100% accurate statement. I love the experimentalist on tracks like the opener Miss You and the Drum + Bass drops on Friend and parts of Pale Machine. I can see why Every Day is a favorite, as it actually features Hatsune-Miku-esque vocaloid and some distorted psychedlic-y lead vocals. It would be the best song ... read more
