There comes a point at which our supposedly "secular" late-capitalism reproduces its own despotic onto-theology—in the face of which, I think, only authentic belief—belief in the impossible 'itself', the spacing of space in which such ipseity withdraws—opens up the possibility of resistance, of community, of friendship.
