How did they do this? How did they make an album this good? They took two of my favorite things -- the colour yellow and birds -- and made a great album with catchy highs and surprisingly manageable lows, which is surprising knowing just how unimaginably bad their lows can get.
His best album with his best song and some of his most passionate performances. This album takes Cole's best attributes and turns them up to eleven. This has some of his best written, hardest hitting and most emotional songs in a career full of lyrical and storytelling masterclass works. The story he manages to tell in this story of a man who fears death and finds himself learning to appreciate what matters most in the time he has left on the short amount of time a man in his position is ... read more
Drake will be fried and fed to the goons. His career is over.
A few good cuts, but it's very indicative that Don Toliver is no longer the feature giant he used to be after his astronomical lay-up on CAN'T SAY. Hopefully that new album proves me wrong but until then, Don Toliver can take comfort in knowing his career wasn't the only thing that died during the pandemic.
YAWN... BORING..... REPETITIVE...... PLAYED OUT..........
(I don't hate it but it all kind of blends together after a bit. You hear one song, you've heard them all. The idea of "72 Seasons" as a concept is cool but the concept for what could've been, say, a narrative album or at least an album with more tracks that feel more directly related to the experience of being a kid in a fucked up environment was thrown out the window for more dime-a-dozen thrash metal. A waste of my favorite ... read more
Despite obvious flaws, I have a soft spot for this album in J. Cole's discography. It's both charming and dark and (most of the time) it never feels too forced or disjointed. The interludes are annoying though, get rid of them and a couple stinky parts that go on a bit too long and you get a certified 👍 album from me.
It's fun, sweet, lo-fi Lupe. The production on this thing is great and Lupe's rapping does it justice. Perfect for studying!
2022 was a really interesting time in Drake's career. He experimented with new sounds that people hated and collabed with 21 Savage on a project that that people loved. It was exciting! It seemed like Drake heard the feedback from CLB and wanted to try making music that proved that, yes, he could switch up his sound and, no, he wasn't afraid to make stuff that he knew The Masses wouldn't love out the gate. In the process of making FATD, anticipation was high and people were excited to see what ... read more
His best album for straight bars. This album has a lot of issues that come with being new to making music, but Chance got to add "The Rapper" in his stage name because of how lyrically in-depth this album is compared to his more poppy/sing-songy/gospel influeces in later albums.
I'm a sucker for EPs like this where it's one song split into several acts. While not as captivating as Solace, it is still plenty hypnotizing with Ugly Mane's phenomenal rapping and lyricism on this project.
P.S. i lay pipe to the last 30 seconds of the album
You could get Donald Glover, Tyler the Creator and any other funny rapper in a room to create a comedy sketch and it would not be half as entertaining and funny as Pink Tape is.

I need Ben Shapiro on an Alchemist beat. He has the money, we can make something happen.
