Changed the trajectory of Summer 2000. Somehow it is still relevant in 2026 because no other albums could capture everything of a season this well.
Aphrodite is almost a refined collection of dance pop tracks after her experimental era with X. The songs perfectly blend together, making one of her most cohesive works to date. For the first time I have too much of an impression for a standard tracklist without having to yearn for deluxe versions.
Tension II would work well as a starter pack for fun pop music, but as someone who has enjoyed her extensive collection of works through decades, this certainly is a friendlier approach from Kylie to contemporary pop - simple catchy phrases and containing very few bridges. It starts off strong with Lights Camera Action, then gets somehow mid and forgettable after Kiss Bang Bang. The feats are more of a shock, not actually complimenting the album theme but just being... there.
The beginning of Kylie's getting creative control in her own works. Artwork shot by her beloved boyfriend who advised her to explore herself instead of changing according to stereotypes. Regardless of tabloids about her being "provocative", she stood up for herself and the genuine love to explore music. Definitely an iconic breakthrough era for Kylie.
A perfect capsule of Kylie's works during Deconstruction era with immaculate choices of shelved works from the original. All compilations should have been done like this.
