I really wish more artists would be this considerate when attempting to bring the 80s sound into modern day's music. Whether Marcus Brown chooses musical or material ambition will no doubt make or break his future releases, but for now, this is one solid first step to take.
Jean Dawson sounds dreamier than ever before, which could be a promising lane for him to enter. Hopefully, he will approach it with a bit more musical maturity on a future LP. This sounds pleasant, but slightly undercooked.
Although this album occasionally leaves Black Thought fending for himself, it is still a satisfying listen with plenty of highs and very few lows.
A stunning and hard-hitting jazz rock experience like few others. If you give anything a chance this May, let it be this new Maruja EP. It is more than worth your while.

At times skeletal, other times packed to the brim. It's the sound of Spinvis. Masterful experimental pop artist Erik De Jong who started his career at age 40 back in 2002 is pure in his emotion, and incredibly skilled in bringing it across to both the careful and careless listener. Occasionally his lyrics are cryptic in a way which has been internationally popularised by Frank Ocean, but the feeling behind it is ever-knowable. His experiments are well-balanced. Yo Quin! I’ve been getting inspiration to make another community list in these past few days, and I’ve just thought of a question that kind of interested me to see people’s choices; what’s a song you know that sounds super happy but is actually sad, due to lyrical content and/or backstory? Feel free to ignore if you’re not interested in answering, but make sure to keep your selections limited to 1 or 2 picks if you do. Reasonings are optional :)
