I thought since I kind of liked the slayr album that I would at least enjoy this experience but man this was dull - obnoxious beats where the hi hats obscure anything worthwhile, horrible performances from Shine and his features and some really awkward samples and interpolations that can't even commit to being funny-bad. DEATH PENALTY
Does the absolute barest minimum to be qualified as shoegaze music. Absolutely nothing to even think about. BORED

Really disappointing record. Some decent flows and occasional fun bars, but a lot of poorly-mixed unengaging beats and monotonous performances make this a non-starter for me.
Pretty solid "solace" homage. Would be interested to listen to a full album from this guy
Honestly really wanted to like this more - there is much to appreciate about the beats and the catchy flows, but the mixtape works best when slayr is being dumb and having fun with weird kids show references and funny similes which is somewhat rare; a lot of the record is kind of boring, overproduced rage/cloudrap drivel that could have been made by anyone. I'm not super familiar with the rest of the genre, but if this is considered some of the best of its kind I'm scared to listen to ... read more
I thought disco was supposed to make you want to dance
Just as vapid, emotionally immature and hollow as Drake's last 5 or 6 albums, but aesthetically he stepped his game up with a still-bloated but considerably trimmed down tracklist, higher quality beats and some fun performances and lyrical flourishes from both artists. It's still not something I would ever listen to again front-to-back, and it falls so easily into the same trite Drake-isms he's been struggling with for years, but compared to the previous decade of Drake this ... read more
Fuck off. Not a single good riff, not a single original lyric, not a single good performance. Pure slop made for 14 year olds to listen to while they play Roblox.
Softcult is the kind of band you would hear playing while you're 5 vodkas deep in a bar and think "meh, they're okay I should listen to them on Spotify when I get home" and then immediately wish you were drunk again.
Didn't expect to dislike this as much as I did. Some genuinely terrible, overbearing and gaudy production with a lot of uninspired lyricism that goes nowhere. Maybe this works well in the context of the film - I haven't seen it - but as standalone tracks these leave me so empty.
I guess it's fine I just wish he did something or anything with these covers
For sure a quality record with some real high points, but I wish it weren't so messy. Some weak production at times and even a few underwhelming performances drag this down for me.
Started out pretty strong but man this quickly goes from decent to ass. The beats are mostly consistent, barring a surprisingly weak offering from the legendary Q-Tip on the outro, and Slick Rick's performances are **fine** but the subjects he chooses to rap about, like how hard it is to be a landlord (unironically) or how he stopped giving a shit about his daughter (again, no self-reflection), along with his borderline incomprehensible lyrics are baffling at points. I don't know if ... read more
I actually think I've lost my mind. I don't know what anyone would see in this. The beats are messy and overly layered and so horribly mixed so you can't ever fully make out any one thing happening in the song. At one point he samples "SDP Interlude" by Travis Scott, which is a decent song, and does NOTHING with it. He samples the intro at the start and interpolates the hook at a few points but I wouldn't be surprised if you missed that as they're hidden by ... read more
I really appreciate and to an extent even love so much of these ideas, but I guess I just don't see the full picture.
