Weezer (Teal Album)

Weezer release the Teal Album, and it's a covers album covering old popular songs. On paper, it sounds like an absolute disaster, and while the covers here are nowhere as good as the original songs, they're not... terrible?

I mean yeah, it does sound lame but I feel like at this point Weezer are embracing the lameness and all the memes surrounding them. Attempting to take Weezer seriously anymore is basically impossible, but I don't really mind to be honest. This album's obviously not meant to be taken seriously. So onto the actual covers, they're decent. None of them really match the original covers and what this album really boils down to is a karaoke album since Weezer don't really add much new to the originals except for No Scrubs, I guess. It's lame and Weezer knows it. It's hard to hate this album on that merit. Honestly, they could make an album that's a pastiche of Van Halen and I wouldn't mind.
