ELUCID pushes Hip Hop to its absolute limits with his new... album? song? it's not really clear what this thing really is. It is one of the most impressive listens of the year, it feels like ELUCID is pushing himself by truly deconstructing what it means to create a rap song. This is a completely unpredictable project, with it taking left and right turns constantly, incorporating elements of noise, hip hop, electronic, and jazz music, and yet the project never feels directionless. With surprise appearances from billy woods, and using multiple vocal samples, including a reimagining of his Armand Hammer song "Doves" which is one of the greatest songs ever made. There are distinct parts to this projects, so it's not really fair to treat this as one single song, each of those parts feel distinct, yet they all mesh together to create a single, cohesive project. I absolutely love this project, one of the most fascinating listens of the year, really looking forward to see what ELUCID and Armand Hammer go from the insane year they've had, and what a way to see it off. Happy 2025 everybody!
