I appreciate what this album is going for, it just didn't click with me, still decent enough to have on in the background. + Bonus Points for the Dog
It's got the weird, atmospheric production you would expect from Cecilia, but I can see a development in her music compared to "Summer in Sexilia". The music leans into more an atmospheric, ambient style, mixed with great breathy singing and even implementing some more recognizable song structures. Cecilia continues to show her uniqueness, even with her evolving sound.
This didn't hit me quite as hard emotionally as "The Origin of my Depression", but this is no doubt one of the most powerful albums of the year, both in terms of its emotion and production.

Hits so much harder on relisten, I definitely "click" with the album more post-egg cracking, and I'm planning on revisiting some of her stuff. I also appreciate the difference in instrumentation, the focus on classical elements heightens the emotional impact of many ... read more
Such a warm, cozy sounding album, it's almost enchanting in its relatively simple production and singing, even if I can't understand what's being said.
One of the weirdest albums to come out of the 60s, I feel like I'm losing my mind listening to this thing. I mean, it sounds good, it's impressive that an album this weird can have at least some level of cohesion, I just don't have anything else to say about it
Understanding the context behind the creation of this album is vital to appreciating and evaluating it fairly (ANTHONY). This was made at Halsey's lowest point in her life, it was made when she was facing her own death, being diagnosed with Leukemia, and having just left an abusive relationship and leaving her with a child. This struggle with mortality comes through really well within the writing, it's simple, but I think that's what makes it effective. Any feeling of angst or ... read more
I can appreciate what Zelooperz is trying here, but this album is a complete mess, none of the styles work, the features don't really add anything, Zelooperz performance gets irritating incredibly quicky. The production is really the only saving grace of much of these tracks, but even then, it's usually serviceable at best.
Really interested to see how this album sounds, because this is way closer to The Microphones than Mount Eerie, really well written and tragic as well.
A really well made album considering it's self-produced, , I had heard E L U C I D's production before, but never Milo's. E L U C I D and Milo/R.A.P Ferreira are some of my favourite rappers in the abstract hip hop scene, so I'm surprised I've never heard about their collab album before. Everything you would expect from the two artists is here, Milo's poetry-like writing and spoken word style of rapping, and E L U C I D's very distinct style of rapping and ... read more
I haven't heard anything from King Gizzard before, so this was a bit of a shock, I think if I was more familiar with their stuff then I would appreciate this song more. As it stands, I do think this sounds incredible, the orchestra sounds great, especially paired with everything else, though the song just never hooked me in.
Learning that Gil Scott-Heron wrote poetry before moving to music makes a lot of sense given how beautifully written this album is, especially when mixed with Heron's great powerful singing. Also "The Prisoner" is a phenomenal closing track.
Really impressive for a debut, the drum and bass elements sounded really natural with the other aspects of the tracks, and none of the songs dragged on too long. However, there is obviously still room to grow, and I would have personally preferred if there were more vocals like on "SPREAD MY WINGS". I'm excited to see where you take your sound in the future, because there's a lot of potential here.
The production here was really great, and the performances were also really nice, they both mixed with each other really well. It didn't blow me away or anything, but it was nice while it was on.
What separates Tyler, the Creator from other artists is his ability to reinvent himself with each album. No two Tyler albums sound the same, they each take from different influences and musical styles, are exploring different concepts. However, perhaps the only true consistency throughout all his albums is that each is a reflection on where Tyler is in his life. This album is no exception, and perhaps the best showcase of this, the album sounds like Tyler is saying, "Hey thanks for ... read more
At points, the rapping felt really good, and worked with the production and writing, but at other points, it felt really awkward, and didn't at all compliment the writing, which I thought was the best aspect of this album. There were also some of the interludes that I felt didn't really add anything to the album. Overall, this project has decently high highs, but also low lows, and makes for a pretty inconsistent listen, even if the message and sentiment is really good, and there are ... read more
This sounds like Mach-Hommy reaching his full potential as an artist, there is so much substance in the production, the rapping, and the features here. On this album, Mach-Hommy utilizes his skills in a variety of sounds, and, although not every aspect works, plenty of it does, and it makes for a really impressive album.
Thanks to @Bryan23 for the recommendation!
The singing on this album is really good, and the production as really high quality. I can see a lot of potential in a future project from ODD MAMI, because this showcases a lot of her skills really well, even if I wasn't the most invested into the sound of the album.
Thank you to @silkycocoon for showing me this album!
This album nails the gothic, witchy aesthetic perfectly, from the cover art, to the production, to the singing feels dark, and ominous, in the best way possible. The production at points feels like a ritual happening, with drum beats sounding like marches, and sounding very ceremonial, it makes it sound like your being transported to another world, it has this hypnotic quality to it. The singing is varied, but maintains this deep, brooding ... read more
Each single from these two has been better than the previous, this is the best Saba has sounded since "Care For Me", his writing feels very introspective and conceptual, I'm interested to see where this fits with the upcoming mixtape. As for No ID, the production creates this dark and brooding atmosphere that pairs really well with the themes discussed in this track.
