Short and punchy, and has enough variety to keep it interesting throughout.
A lot of ambient music runs the risk of sounding similar to me, and a lot of ambient and drone albums that I've listened to doesn't really stand out all that much, unless it's doing something really creative and interesting. This album does fall into that trap a bit, however, I can respect the combination of some acoustic and electronic sounds. This album also sounds pretty soothing, which I can respect, despite not being the most interesting thing in the world
Really good album, it sounds incredible for one, the mix between the shoegaze elements and the more glitchy elements work really well together. The spoken word portions of some of the tracks come in really naturally and don't break up the pacing of the tracks. I don't know what's being said, so I'm not sure if it has flows thematically with the writing. My main issue with this album is with the vocals, my enjoyment with them can vary, and it stops many of the tracks on here ... read more
The two different styles of music at play here, can sometimes combine really well to create these incredibly unique soundscapes, and other times they can clash really harshly and just make for an unenjoyable listening experience. As a whole, while I see a lot of potential in this group, they're not using their obvious skills to their advantage on this EP.
One of the weirdest projects I have ever listened to, having only known Jarboe from her work as part of Swans, this was absolutely not what I was expecting. The writing is cryptic and morbid, and the production is some of the most out there stuff I have ever had. Seriously, how do you even begin to make a song like "Troll"? The vocals range from simple spoken word, to shrieks, to warped, raspy speaking, and it makes for a wholly unique listening experience.
What a great sounding album, I'm not sure what instrument is being played here, but it sounds really unique, and I haven't heard an instrumental album that sounds quite like this one. An insanely underrated album, the fact that it sounds so unique and varied despite using what I think is a single instrument is a testament to the artist's talent. Definitely will have to check out more music from them.
I would describe this album as consistent, if you like the first track, you're probably going to like the rest of the project. The production is really good, and feels like a big improvement from "Below The Heavens". The writing is, as you would expect, down to earth, likeable and even feels relatable at points, which is something I think makes Blu & Exile stand out from a lot of other similar rap acts. The things Blu raps about almost feel universal, and I think that adds a ... read more
Feel like I'm missing something with this album, sure the production is interesting, and sounds great, but Boldy James' rapping feels really one note. I get that he has his own distinct style of rapping, but it only really works with certain production styles. Given that there are so many different production styles here, some of them are bound to just not mix well with his rapping for me. This album isn't bad by any means, I'm just failing to see what others see in it.
The combination between classical music and breakcore can seem jarring at first, and off-putting to some, but it honestly becomes really natural sounding after a few tracks. I think that really speaks to Funk's talent as a producer, to combine two polar opposite music genres into something that sounds wholly unique and great. This album is just really fun to listen to, the really glitchy/noisy elements feel really exciting to hear and work surprisingly well when contrasted with the ... read more

Thank you so much for 200 followers, it's insane that this account has grown so much in a relatively short time, so thank you to every single one of you!
The Roots are an interesting band, while jazz and rap had been combined before, and live instrumentation wasn't something completely new, the way it's all intertwined with each other just sounds incredible. Also, the fact that it's also lead by Black Thought's rapping makes for such ... read more
Thanks to @Bryan23 for recommending this to me!
First of all, I love how dark this album is, some tracks completely lean into the horrocore element with their writing, and they were also my favourite tracks from the album. In my opinion, a horrocore song, has to completely lean into the horror aspect to their music, which is what "Muñecas" for example, does really well. The production on this album was also phenomenal, it sounded so desolate at points, while still keeping some ... read more

There is such a giant feeling of melancholy in every single part of this album. Miller's delivery feels a little low energy, but it feels like it has a purpose, like he just doesn't have any energy left to do much at all. The writing here feels equally as tragic, with it sounding like Miller is looking out at what his life has become, and wanting to fix it. The production here is perhaps the most standout thing about the whole project ... read more

I really like how many different musical styles going on here, it makes for a really impressive debut album. That being said, because there is s much stuff going on here, not every single musical style is going to work for me. Still, really interested in seeing where he takes his sound in the future, because there are a lot of avenues this album has opened up that could be explored further in a future project.
Thanks to @Bryan23 for the recommendation!
Really surprised at how smooth the production is throughout the EP, it manages to combine really good R&B with hip hop, with a slight experimental edge. The EP also moves pretty fast, only being 18 minutes long, really fun and interesting listen.
There are moments in this album that sound very pretty, my favourite parts of this album are the more ambient portions, where it feels like Coldplay are actually experimenting with a new direction. These parts are few and far between though, and you have to get through some of the most generic, feel-good, "motivational" writing I have ever heard before. Sure, the production sounds incredibly polished, but rarely is it ever interesting, everything here sounds like it's been done ... read more

Today, October 4th 2024, will go down in history as one of the best days in recent music history. How is this the debut album a 25 year old, not someone with decades of musical experience? This is one of the most insane albums I've ever heard, there is so much MUSIC going on at almost every moment on this album, and yet the album never feels cluttered, everything is spaced out so perfectly, there are still moments to breathe in between all the chaos. The writing is lathered in ... read more
Free Palestine.
This album, despite having near zero field recordings, is still incredibly harrowing, this album sounds angry, angry at the governments of the world for not recognizing the genocide that is currently taking place in Gaza. On top of that, this album also just sounds really good, the warped guitars create this sound that feels so giant in scale and damming, and for an album with a subject matter as bleak as this one, it needs this giant scale. This is also probably the loudest ... read more
What an insanely unique album, combining the sound of early electronic music with death metal, and even some ambient elements. It's safe to say I haven't heard anything like this album. A lot of my complaints for this album come from me not being that familiar with death metal as a genre, so while things like the vocals can sometimes put me off, it isn't something I hold against the album, as it comes more from my inexperience in the genre.
This is a strange album for me, because I can recognize that, on a technical level, this is probably better than Wall Of Eyes, but for whatever reason, this just isn't hitting as hard for me. I can also appreciate the difference sound this album is going for, steering slightly away from the ambient pop sound of Wall Of Eyes. Perhaps it'll grow on me after a few listens.
This album didn't do much for me, I can appreciate what it sets out to do, but it feels too short to have any form of long-term impact, nor does the album have any real time to flesh out it's ideas.
