A lot of this album is saved by me really enjoying the UK house/dance sound. Without that, you are left with the least substantial and fulfilling thing I've heard from Little Simz so far.
Probably the least memorable project of theirs that I've heard, still features cool production and a welcome change of tone.
There are so many songs on this album with instrumentals that have aged like milk, but are largely saved by the vocals. A high point from this album comes from 'Tears In The Typing Pool', which sounds like nothing else on this album. Overall, I think the time from when the album came out was the biggest detriment to my enjoyment from it.
I have zero memory of anything to do with this album, just that I was slightly relaxed and bored during it.
An early project from Injury Reserve with great production and some powerful lyrics that carry it above other albums in the same vein. That being said, not every idea here is executed incredibly, but that's heavily outweighed by the ideas that are.
This being my first full FKA Twigs project, it surprised me, I was always aware of her more emotional tracks, and while this album showcases a great amount of emotional vulnerability, it's balanced well with the more light-hearted tracks, and these are the ones I find myself returning to more.
This album left me wanting more, every song here feels a minute too short, I can appreciate Earl for trying something new, but this really isn't it.
This album is mind-blowing. Everything feels 50 years ahead of its time. The production feels so alien here, which is a perfect juxtaposition with the very human themes explored. With the song "Pluto" for example, it sounds like the destruction of the universe is going on throughout the song, yet Bjork's vocal performance and lyrics remain the central point. This is an album on a scale which has not been seen since and will probably never be seen again. Perfection.
Breakcore is something I've always been interested in, and this album feels like the magnum opus of everything the genre has to offer.
The story of these guys will always be more interesting to me than any of their music, I still think this album is good, just doesn't hold up to what others say about it.
I went into this album with high expectations, as I saw reviews saying it was one of the greatest horrorcore albums ever made, while it does lean into the horrocore element quite well. I left this album feeling unfulfilled. This was my first experience of Clipping. and so i wasn't quite sure what to expect when listening. This album features a lot of effective storytelling in its lyrics, I never felt like it was balanced well with the music. The production and songwriting on some songs saves ... read more
I wasn't sure what to expect from this album, I had heard "Rewind" before this, which was nice, but nothing mind-blowing. Overall, this is what I would describe this album, similarly to AZEB, a lot of this album is saved by Cleo Sol performance. However I left this album feeling like there was more to her music than what I was hearing.
This album actively makes me uncomfortable, the person's shitty, which weirdly fits the music, and has made it age, in a backwards way, perfectly. The instrumentals in this album are insane, and make me feel like I'm losing my mind. This feels like an album which only someone like Alexis Marshall could make, which is to say it's terrifying still Fuck Alexis Marshall
