I really like the vocals on this album, they really manage to stop this album from feeling somewhat generic. I defintely think the first half is stronger than the second, though.
This album never hooked me in the way I think I was expecting it too. I think Nilüfer Yanya has a great voice, but I also don't think there was enough to these songs to warrant me returning to any of them.
Pretty good modern punk rock music, it's a little formulaic, but it also executes on that formula really well
This definitely clicked with me more than a lot of other of Bodly James releases, the production really complimented Boldy James' style of rapping.
Thanks @jbjohnston2011 for sending me your album!
Some of the beats here are really good, some are definitely a lot more rough around the edges. I think the fact that there are so many good tracks on an album this large is respectable. Also a lot of differnet musical styles at play here, which was pretty fun to hear.
I am of the probably unpopular opinion the Wet Leg's debut album is one of the best debut albums of the decade. Wet Leg are one of the most underappreciated bands currently going, at least underappreciated on this site. I'm happy to say that, for the most part, this album lives up to the quality of their debut. I think the lean more into a garage rock sound works well in moving their sound forward, instead of just doing retreading their footsteps. I think in terms of number of good ... read more
It's crazy how loud this album can get at times, yet it never feels overbearing in any way. This album doesn't really give you any warning either, it just immediately throws you into the deep end, and doesn't let you out till the end. I think the album peaks early on, because I started to lose interest a little towards the end.
Otherworldly production, reminds me of a more industrial Veil of Darkness by Yeule, the singing here is also absolutely gorgeous. Eveyrthing has this dark dreamy aestethic that works really well, definitely deserves more eyes.
As someone who has a big interest in history, and is planning to study it in university, I was surprised at how much information here was a complete shock to me. Probably better described as an audio-documentary rather than an album, it details the lead up, events, reactions, and results of the Gulf War. Something that struck me was the parallels you can so easily draw with the language news and media reports used to try and justify the Gulf War and how a lot of the same news reports and media ... read more
The heavy use of repetition to lull you into a trance is executed in a way I don't think I've heard before. A lot of post-rock relies on a slow and methodical build-up into a crescendo. That's definitely present here, but there's something else, something deeper, that makes this album special. I think it's just how hypnotic the album, and the instrumentation here is. There's something disgustingly intimate about the album, Michael Gira sounds like he's talking ... read more

An interesting way to end the trilogy, it's considerably shorter than the otehr entries, and also much less abrasive. However, I think it works, it's almost like watching the credits roll, it's a really effective way to close the curtain on this trilogy of albums. While I personally think it's the weakest in the trilogy, don't take that as me disliking the project, the production here is great, and the slightly calmer ... read more
Sometimes the vocals can get a little grating but other than that, this is a really energetic album. The production is sublime electro-industrial, the synths cut through everything, and the drums are fast paced and super digital sounding. It all sounds like releasing all of your built up anger in one long scream.
Thanks @DudeCentral98 for sending me this! (Will only be rating the deluxe tracks)
I think this works well as an addition to an already great album. I don't think any of the songs here are as strong as the album counterparts, but they all feature very light on the ears guitar playing, and very emotional writing and vocals, so it isn't a major step down or anything.
Really gorgeous soundscapes the whole way through, I think the music here is perfectly reflected by the cover art. I like to imagine it's night, and you're in a high floor hotel room, just hearing the city underneath you, and letting everything simmer in your mind. It's really great and effective ambient music.
I personally think the second half is much stronger than the second half, but all throughout, the saxophone playing here is really impressive, the drumming is super dynamic and entertaining to listen to. Overall, a really solid avant-garde/free jazz album.
The super bleak wirting and high pitched singing can feel make the album feel pretty uncomfortable, but that's by design. The themes of drug addiction and abuse are pretty front and center the whole way through, which can sometimes feel at odds with how ethereal this album is production-wise, but I think also adds to how melancholy, almsot cathartic everything feels.
Really pretty and tender album, Francis' singing is really good, and works well for this style of music. The writing here feels like of someone who's experienced a lot of life. Some songs definitely click with me a lot more, but I'll still recommend this to anyone who's into old-fashioned folk music from this era.
It's crazy how good of a year this has been for hip hop already, and this is another great example. Considering this is the first Clipse album I've listened to, I'm not sure how well this works as a "comeback" album, but as a straightforward hip hop album, this is really top tier stuff. I'll get my first, and really only gripe out of the way first, and that's Pharrell. As a producer, he's great, the beats are all solid, they're varied enough so that ... read more

I think one of the things I respect most about your music is your ability to take sounds that can come off abrasive or unpleasant, and make it work. That was present on your previous album, but I thnk it's even moreso here. I agree with the other person that compared this to Autechre, with everything sounding so busy, but still maintaining a rhythm throughout. I personally think the high points on this album was higher than on ... read more
