Dirty, careless, ragged and rotten...for a record that spearheaded the first wave of punk rock, it's awfully impressive in retrospective that the debut of this genre kicked off so strong. Every track on this record is a jam. Blonde's Clem Burke went as far to call The Heartbreakers "the punk rock Beatles." while they were popular in the underground music scene in the late 70s in NYC, their gig was short lived, only active for about 7 years. “After eating that chicken vindaloo ….”

This album is, imo, the quintessential Ramones album. The sound of this album and the live quips is really "what they were" as a musical group. The feedback and echoes, the crowd losing their minds, the contents of their first three releases poured into a loud, sloppy mirage of hammered-out tunes.
