Yeah, I vibe with this one. It's like a jazzier, groovier version of Iceage's 'Plowing into the Field of Love'...it makes sense at least in my mind, ok??? >_>
Every track is delightfully smooth and as simple as can be. What you hear is what you get, tunes about sex and drinking and drugging; storytelling so surface-level it becomes almost corny to listen to. But that doesn't deduct at all from how lovely it is -- did I SERIOUSLY just call an album lovely, 0__0 what have you done to me, Mick Harvey... -___-
The organ is a criminally underrated instrument, I think the record that made me fall in love with it is Talk Talk's 'Spirit of Eden' and while the sound of this album is wildly different it serves me just as well. The strings are beautiful too. All I want is to nurse scotch on the rocks in a dimly lit bar at rock bottom while Anita Lane serenades me............Yeah.
