AOTY 2023
21 Savage, Metro Boomin & Offset - Without Warning

This was the first Trap album I ever listened to back in 2019. This album singlehandedly transitioned me from only listening to "lyrical" rap to bumping a lot of Trap. If it wasn't for this album, I probably wouldn't have ever given that album a chance. I was interested to see what my perspective on it is now, since you know, obviously my taste has changed drastically.

And to my surprise, this thing still goes dumb hard and is easily one of the strongest Trap albums ever released. Ric Flair Drip, Mad Stalkes, and Rap Saved Me are still the perfect Trap songs. Not to mention the intro.

The production is dark, nocturnal, and heavy, while the flows are so seamless, effortless, dark, and fun. 21 and Offset really merge their energies extremely well and have a lot of chemistry.

The nonchalant, careless, and savage feel this project has is just infectious.

If there's one problem I have with the album is that after Mad Stalkers, the album has a significant dip. Tracks 7-9 could've all been cut out, those seemed unnecessary.

But either way, I still like this. It just goes hard.

FAV TRACKS: Ric Flair Drip, Mad Stalkers, Ric Flair Drip, Ghostface Killers, Darth Vader
LEAST FAV TRACKS: Still Serving, Disrespectful
