Fit For An Autopsy, Thy Art Is Murder & Malevolence - The Aggression Sessions
68
An unexpected collab from two legendary Deathcore bands Fit For An Autopsy and Thy Art Is Murder with the Metalcore band Malevolence. I somehow skipped over this, but I'm actually extremely curious to see what this sounds like and what they come up with. Is it going to have that melodic Metalcore Malevolence edge or is it going to just go full heavy Deathcore? Let's see!

Well looks like each of the bands kinda went for their standard style here on their solo selected songs. However, ... read more

Veil of Maya - [m]other

I've never been a big fan of Veil Of Maya, but I was curious on whether they would improve here on their new album. I mean at the end of the day, I love Metalcore, so this must be good with that fire album cover, right?

Nah, not really. At all.

This thing is so average, so generic, so playing it safe, it honestly made me extremely bored. They haven't improved at all in the slightest bit, matter of fact, they're even worse now. Are these songs terrible? No, none of them suck complete ass ... read more

THE METAL SUBGENRE CHALLENGE #030 - ALTERNATIVE DEATHCORE
In this challenge, I'll be taking a look at various albums I haven't heard yet from a variety of different Metal subgenres. I'm quite familiar with the genre, but I really want to dive into the specific subgenres and analyze them.

I usually can't tolerate Deathcore unless it's mixed with other subgenres (Enterprise Earth) or is just done well to my taste (Fit For an Autopsy). And Kin is definitely that.

This album incorporates elements ... read more

Alcest - Souvenirs d'un autre monde

Fuck this album! It ruined my NoFap streak, I was nutting everywhere for 41 minutes straight 😡😡

This is the debut album of one of my favorite bands ever, Alcest. They're in my top 5, honestly, they're just absolutely incredible in every way shape, or form and I have yet to hear anything weak from them. Every single album I've heard was absolutely awesome. I originally came across them from the song Sapphire in 2019, when it got recommended to me on Spotify, and that song is easily in my ... read more

Yeat - My Wrist

Yeat, Pi'erre Bourne, and Young Thug? I'm here for it

It's not the best Pi'erre beat or their best flows, but they're both just so ridiculous vocally, they have a lot of chemistry and it works

Lil Durk - Almost Healed
24
Absolutely atrocious, all the way through. A few good beats here and there like Put Em On Ice, but most of these beats aren't good, but the worst part of it are easily the vocals. They're so boring, Durk doesn't stand out one bit with anything, he doesn't have any interesting qualities as a rapper, his lyrics are horrible, his flows are boring, and the melodies are absolutely nowhere. Also, "All My Life" is a contender for the worst song that dropped this year. Those children's vocals ... read more
Amesoeurs - Amesoeurs

Amesoeurs was a French Blackgaze project, including Neige, which is now the lead member of the incredible band "Alcest". And the story of why this band broke up and Neige fully started focusing on Alcest is actually pretty funny. See the lead singer of this band was a woman, and Neige's new girlfriend at the time was jealous of the fact he was in the same band with her, combine that with creative differences, the band ended up breaking up. Which was most likely a good thing, since ... read more

In this challenge, I'll be taking a look at various albums I haven't heard yet from a variety of different Metal subgenres. I'm quite familiar with the genre, but I really want to dive into the specific subgenres and analyze them.

It's time to finally get into one of the most critically acclaimed Metal albums on the site! And judging by the fact it's Stoner Doom Metal, my hopes were kind of high, but then again, you never know what will ... read more

The Killers - Hot Fuss

It actually started off pretty solid with the first three tracks, nothing mindblowing or playlist-worthy, but they were nice songs. But after that, the album takes an insane dip in quality to the point where almost every other single song is extremely bland, boring, empty, and annoying with mediocre production and nothing innovative or interesting to offer that hasn't been heard before at the time. It felt like I was wasting my time listening to most of the songs after the first 3.

It all ... read more

It's a very solid EP, I like the use of synths and electronic elements, yet it does sound like they were still trying to find their sound here. All of the songs have good production though, maybe some of the vocals could've been better, but Vessel was definitely just getting into the flow of things, he still sounded good though. I especially like the last track.

Sounds like a Joy Division song almost

And it's mid for Swans

Lewis Capaldi - Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent

This cover art is actually amazing, and beautifully shot. Probably my favorite cover art of the year so far. Minimalistic, yet beautiful, it gave me a little bit of hope that this album won't suck. The fact I liked Someone You Loved gave me even more hope, I legit like that song, thought his voice was nasally but it worked with the track, then I listened to a few other songs from that same album which didn't work quite as well so maybe I wasn't expecting this to be bad and that people were just ... read more

bangerrrrrr

No seriously, the chorus is great, his voice sound great, the guitars are great. Is it generic? Yes, but who fucking cares it sounds amazing and that's coming from a Pop hater

Lewis Capaldi - Someone You Loved

Fuck... I don't hate the song

The chorus is great and catchy, and the generic Piano instrumental is good too. Is his voice nasally? Yes. Is he the greatest signer ever? No. I've heard other songs from him that his vocals sound MUCH WORSE on, it actually kinda works on here

But the song itself is enjoyable imo, it's crazy how I can't find one single person that thinks it's okay lol

King Crimson - Islands

Here we go with another King Crimson record! I was pretty excited about this one, hoping it would be an underrated gem, and based on the genre tags, and the fact it came just a few years after In The Court gave me hope this would just be some great chill Crimson.

And it was! Look, is it the best album I've heard from them? No. But is it a pleasant vibe, that's well-made and well-constructed all the way through? Absolutely.

Now, a lot of songs before the outro didn't blow my mind, but they ... read more

I haven't dove into Funeral Doom much but I was like, fuck it, today is the day. And by doing some research, a lot of people suggested this is one of the best albums from that genre, so I listened to it.

It's been a while since I first wanted to check out this album, but for some reason, I just didn't. I finally got to it now though! I've heard a lot of people say it's a depressing album, which immediately caught my eye since I'm pretty much always depressed LOL. But I was also kind of expecting it to be another one of those "aoty overrated' boring albums that have no direction, but that luckily wasn't the case and I was pleasantly surprised.

The instrumentals give me a dark feeling, but ... read more

I missed this one somehow, didn't really have the time to check it out, but I finally got to it. All I was hoping for is a few Drag the Lake's and we can call it a day because truth be told, that last album "Misery", even if it had Drag The Lake which is the only song from them I love, the rest of the album was hot garbage. Haven't listened to much of their older stuff either, so maybe I should.

Either way, is this new album good? Is it better than Misery at least?

No, no, no no... ... read more

An amazing emotional acoustic ballad, the guitars sound amazing, even if they're played a little sloppily, and the vocals are great. Again, I mean I love SB2H, it probably saved my life, and this song was definitely one of my most played ones from it
