Will never see the hype with Gibbs honestly. Just not an interesting rapper or a lyricist. His schemes are extremely basic. Rapping about the same thing over and over again is not an issue but guys like Pusha T and Raekwon make it so much fun because their raps are so dense and vivid. Gibbs just blabbers imo and mumbles over cloudy and atmospheric beats. I’ve never heard a Gibbs bar and was like “yea let me rewind that.”
Will never get the hype with JID. Has some decent songs but these were just off beat lyrical myricale jumbo with nothing impressive being said at all. Also wtf was up with that beastiality line from Eminem? In the big 25? 😭
Peanuts 2 an elephant is equivalent to NY state of mind of the 2020s if you think about it.
It’s cool, but I feel like people are just hyped for new clipse, as am I. But don’t think it will be bumped like that in two weeks. Decent at best.
Damn. I’m surprised by how low I scored this album because I loved all 3 of the singles for this tape/album so much. But the production is super inconsistent throughout the album. And the rapping is kind of lazy too on multiple tracks. Some definite highlights I’ll be bumping for a while though, but I was kind of let down.
Yea nothing really stood out to me. Gibbs is extremely average as a lyricist here and the beats get monotonous. Sounds like every song is a freestyle with no direction and with no interesting bars being said. I would lose track on when it changed to a new song.
Bro went 0/3 this year. Same old generic trap with every song sounding the same. Miss 2015 Pluto.
I really don’t understand how people hype this man up anymore. I used to be a fan of his back in the day when he did dead presidents 3, Nikki, soul food, etc, when he was actually creative with his songs and bars. But now… Jesus Christ, these are the most elementary bars I’ve heard in a long time from a talented rapper. There’s no structure to any of these songs. He raps about the same thing in the most basic way possible: how much he’s hated, shouting out his ... read more
This mixtape gets over shadowed by Friday Night Lights, but it’s just as good if not better than FNL. Amazing mixtape.
One of the best mixtapes ever made tbh. Not much more to say. The hunger on this mixtape is extraordinary with crisp production from Cole’s end on 15/20 tracks. Apart from that, he’s ripping the beats from other producers like Villematic or the smooth jazzy Erykah Badu sample on too deep for the intro.
Fantastic album with no filler and no lines wasted. Only two songs I’m kinda meh on are interlude and 100 mil but not bad songs by any means. Beats are very hard hitting, features are all on point, and Cole’s rapping is top tier with hard hitting bars like “Big Boss, less Rick Ross, more like a wavy Hideo
Kojima, they tote steamers around the way we tippy-toe.” 95/100. Great come back for Cole after KOD.
The words generic, lifeless, and monotonous are the best 3 words to describe this album. The production is a generic Dilla/Madlib wanna be rip off from 6ix throughout the album apart from a song like Bleed It which is another wanna be Beastie Boys rip off. Not only is the production so boring and the exact same throughout the album, but Logic's rapping is so boring and dull. The only things is he's talking about is how he's back from retirement (which really wasn't a retirement), and shouting ... read more
