Went into this album with absolutely no expectations and no clue what it would sound like and I came out of it pleasantly surprised. Ecco2k is someone that I know is associated with the drain gang movement and that’s about it. This album is super atmospheric and spacey. It sounds like a cold winter day with nothing in sight but the white, glistening snow on the ground in front of you. It’s so simple, but has a really beautiful quality about it. The production also has a slightly experimental edge to it, with some glitchy sounds and distortion that’ll throw you for a loop. I was expecting to be a little bit annoyed by Ecco2k’s vocals, which was true but I wasn’t as annoyed as I thought I was gonna be. A big reason why I haven’t been able to get into the drain gang aesthetic has to do with the vocals. However, I didn’t really mind the vocals on here as much and they even complement the sound of these songs really well. Overall, this is a super interesting project, and definitely a defining work for Ecco2k.
