There are still some tears in my eyes as I’m writing this review FRESH after listening to the album. I’m kind of astonished by it, to be honest.
Such a coherent experience with the story, but also the soundscape. The lyricism and songwriting is something worthy of making history, frankly.
For Gorillaz to have this kind of a comeback after what is widely considered to be a big fall off, is something so impressive it’s hard to fathom what it must feel like for Damon.
It was such an emotional journey where I felt I could relate to the music, and understand the significance for Gorillaz. That’s something rare.
On a more personal side of things, I’ve struggled with self harm and suicide for some time after some tricky things came up in my life. I seriously thought to hold on sometimes because I wanted to hear this album. It means so much to me
My favourites are:
Damascus
The Moon Cave
Delirium
Orange County
The Empty Dream Machine
