They got worse. I have no clue how they managed it, but they somehow topped Save Rock and Roll and made one of the most irritating, obnoxious, insufferable, annoying and repetitive albums I have ever heard. In its attempts of having a massive sound they've pretty much completely sacrificed any kind of cohesion between any of the sounds used here, creating an extremely confused and aggravating atmosphere. I hesitate to even use the word atmosphere here because this album clearly does not care about atmospheres or soundscapes or any kinds of interesting musical ideas. You get to a song like Uma Thurman and it just has no idea what it's talking about.
"She loves to dance like Uma Thurman"
Was Uma Thurman particularly famous for dancing? She's an actor, right? The only time I can recall her dancing in a role was in Pulp Fiction, could they not remember the name of her character? Also what the fuck does this have to do with the rest of the song? What's with the butchering of the Tom's Diner sample on Centuries? Was it really a necessary addition to this dreadful song? Why did anyone think any of this was a good fucking idea?
And most importantly of all, how can this get any fucking worse?
