What the fuck is this?

I mean, I knew that there would be some kind of drop off from the much worse ratings on their 2010 albums but... jesus christ, what the fuck were they thinking? Were they seriously trying to save rock and roll with this completely overblown radio pop rock shit? I know I said that Fall Out Boy were at their best when they were poppier earlier on but this is just way too far. It's everything wrong with modern pop rock, except it feels like they wanted to keep some kind of edge to it so instead of incorporating some interesting genres like on Folie a Deux, they just blew the shit out of everything. The vocals are distorted to hell and I have no idea why, it doesn't add anything and, if anything, only makes it more grating.

At best, Save Rock and Roll is boring, safe and overblown. At worst it's insultingly annoying and lame.
