i sincerely apologize to myself for not listening to this album (and radiohead in general) sooner because this is actually incredible
i've been craving more ambient kinda music since listening to the new opn record and this album just scratches that itch perfectly. it's a bit short but it's honestly a mesmerizing experience from front to back
also that album cover is peak
"EUSEXUA Afterglow" might not be as immediate as the first installment, but it doesn't really matter since the album is still a really enjoyable listen in its own right. i will say that this is probably my least favorite project of hers, though that doesn't really mean much when basically all of her projects are amazing. and with her releasing so much music this year, i'm more than pleased with what we got on this album (especially since "HARD" might be one of ... read more
that first 4 track run might be one of the best of the year
oh and the rest of the album goes pretty hard also
i'm genuinely amazed that the same man that made "Replica" and "Garden of Delete" just dropped an album that might be his best work yet. every song here just has so much detail that makes for this otherworldly experience that's unlike anything i've heard this year. i don't even know what to say anymore i'm just in love with everything about this album
as someone that hasn't really listened to daniel caesar before this i'm kinda amazed at how beautiful this album is. his vocals are honestly incredible on every track and i'm loving how personal a lot of these songs are. definitely one of my favorites of the year
as someone who didn't know who jim was before the singles for this mixtape, i'm genuinely amazed at the pure quality and creativity on display here
songs like "stick" and "father" have not left my head since i heard them, but i was not prepared for just how personal some of these songs would be. "dexters phone call" has an absolutely incredible performance from dexter, and "3x" is like a full-circle for jim, with a great feature from dave with ... read more
they really just came back after 16 years and dropped peak. true goat behavior 🥹
hoooooooly hell this album is actually incredible. mckinley dixon just delivers hit after hit with some of the best production i've heard this year. like oh my god the beat switch on "Recitatif" is euphoric and all of the features are actually crazy i don't know how he does it. and the title track might be one of my favorite rap songs this year like the production on it is immaculate. i already had pretty high expectations for this album but i wasn't expecting it to be ... read more
someone stop the british they can't keep getting away with making good music
i might just be biased towards folk music but this is such a beautiful album despite how short it is. phil and julie absolutely kill it on the vocals and frederick's guitar playing compliments them so well :D
also that album cover is straight 🔥
april really created a one-of-a-kind experience with this album. from the concept to the production to the lyrical themes, there's just so much to unpack and it has insane replay value, like i've probably listened to this album hundreds of times and i'm still amazed when i hear songs like "Geez louise" and "Uncanny long arms". it's just the embodiment of everything i love about music and i can't get enough of it :D
the rollout might be terrible but at least we got some good songs out of it
