A beautiful collection of perfect songs containing stunning instrumentation and fantastic vocal perfomances. A truly perfect album. The title track is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard.
He really came with all the angles. He poked Drake from every angle and reminded him of all the unadressed disses.
Kendrick really killed Drake and started dancing on his grave. Absolutely outrageous and I absolutely love it. Mustard came through with a west coast banger and Kendrick came with ENERGY. Love it
BRAT is a mixture of club bangers and emotionally vulnerable writing from Charli that come together in a very nice way. It gives the image of Charli almost hiding her true feelings behind the club sound. We see some of her most vulnerable writing on this record and it gives it some emotional depth that really add to the sound of the record and makes it quite unique and interesting. The production and instumentation on BRAT is absolutely amazing and the tracklist is packed with banger after ... read more
The Anthology feels like a pointless expansion of the original album. I really don't see the reason for this to be a double album. Most of the tracks are sonically very similar and don't offer anything special. The writing is quite boring for the most part and it just feels like this double album could have driven home the same point if you removed about 20 tracks. Its extremely bloated and a bit of a snoozefest at times. Some moments give a bit more energy and flavour to the record, ... read more
Dave's sophomore record is just as good or potentially better than his debut. The only issue I have with this record is the inconsistency and the sudden tone-changes. The record starts in a serious, deep and emotional tone just to immediately change into a more aggressive and not as emotionally deep tone. Then he starts flexing just to immediately after that go back to the serious tone for a bit before he drops some lighthearted mainstream sounding tracks. He then proceeds to pick up the ... read more
After a debut like "Illmatic", it's damn near impossible to follow up with a sophomore record that lives up to the expectations. However, I think Nas managed to do it somehow. Although "It Was Written" isn't quite as good as Illmatic, it's still a classic album and one of the best in the genre. On this record, Nas showcases some versatility in his sound and writing ability. "I Gave You Power" is to this day one of the best hiphop tracks of all time. The elite ... read more
MMATBS is undoubtably Kendrick's most personal record to date. Openly admitting and discussing some of his biggest struggles and shortcomings shows the personal growth and maturity that Kendrick has achieved on this record. This record shows Kendrick coming to terms with his past struggles and growing as a person. It may not have as many mainstream bangers as "DAMN.", but it certainly has some incredible emotional depth that make for an extraordinary listen.
GKMC is perhaps the best storytelling record I have ever heard. Telling a captivating story from beginning to end. One of the best hiphop records of the decade and one of the best hiphop records of all time. There are some moments on this record that feel a little weaker, but overall it's amazing. GKMC also includes some of my all-time favourite songs from Kendrick, notably "The Art of Peer Pressure" and "Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst". With this record Kendrick ... read more
I love this beat. Lupe's writing and flow are also phenomenal. This song really multiplied my excitement for the album. Can't wait.
Circles is one of the first posthumous records I have heard that are genuinely amazing. It really shows the incredible potential he had. Mac's sound really evolved with this album, even though hints of it could be noticed in 'Swimming'. It really shows his evolution as an artist and I would have loved to see where he would have been in ten years. His passing is truly tragic and he will forever be missed. May his soul rest in peace.
I love this album. It feels like an album that hints at the sound showcased in Circles, but still with elements of his earlier work. I love this blend in styles and it makes for an incredible album. Man I miss Mac, may his soul rest in peace <3
TPAB is truly a masterpiece. No doubt the best hiphop record of its decade and one of the best of all time. It was difficult to imagine how Kendrick would follow a classic album like GKMC, but TPAB is more than up to the task. First off, the production on this record is absolutely amazing. The jazzy instumentation just fits so well and Kendrick does a tremendous job with the vocal performances on top of it. First time I heard "u", I was completely blown away by Kendrick's masterfully ... read more
Lemonade is an emotional rollercoaster that brings lots of different sounds to the table. Every new song is very different from the last one and it makes for a quite chaotic record. However I don't mind that as it still somehow comes together with a feeling of cohesiveness. Lemonade also brings along some tremendous feature performances. . Beyoncé really outdoes herself on this record with impressive vocal performances and emotional writing. One of, if not the best record Beyoncé ... read more
Absolute classic. Banger after banger coming together to form a dense album filled with masterful vocal performances and fantastic instrumentation.
This album is the embodiment of "the bare minimum". It's repetitive and boring. Tate stayed well within her comfort zone and it's noticeable. The vocals on this record sound incredibly overprocessed and synthetic. It sounds like they used every effect they had on her voice and the outcome is bland, synthetic and boring.
Really strong record and considered somewhat of a swedish pop classic. The album is packed with hits and always brings great vibes, especially in the summer.
Boring, repetitive and lazy. Sounds like Drake put zero effort into this record. I must also mention the absolutely moronic sample on "Currents". Who thought that was a good idea...
