This honestly went from a 70 to a 75 to an 80 to an 85 and now to a 90. At this rate it will be a perfect 100 in a couple of months or so.

So accessible, so catchy, so heartwarming, so melancholic, so simple, so complex. A very tidy album.

Am I the only one who thinks the production sounds absolutely terrible?? At its core it has everything I love about Have a Nice Life and it could be a really good track that's still heavily distorted just not at this level.

I don't know how many of you are in the Patrician Music Chartposting group on Facebook but ages ago there was this girl who posted how she was emotionally abused by Peggy. It was a pretty messed up situation that made him look like a total shit bag and at the time I didn't really connect with Veteran so I guess I didn't have any personal bias to how I reacted to what she said. This girl had pictures of her around his house and with Danny Brown that backed up her story in some respects and ... read more

It blows my tiny mind trying to work out how one person can make something sound like this

Pretty inspirational considering his background. Rich Brian’s sound has improved dramatically on The Sailor with moments that genuinely gave me goosebumps. However, I think there is still room to grow especially lyrically but I’m sure that he will improve in that area with age. Rich Brian has made a statement with this album that he’s a genuine artist with ambition who we should all be excited to watch as his career blossoms.

Sometimes an album will unexpectedly click with you and you see each song in a completely different light. This definitely happened to me with this album. When I first heard it after it’s release I thought it was good, sure, but just your standard indie pop/rock nothing that eye catching. But for whatever reason I can’t get enough of it recently with every song either feeling extra catchy (Cool, Your Dog, Last Girl) or having an extra emotional weight to them (Blossom (Wasting All ... read more

1) Not that Kind: 6.8 (EDIT 7.5 really grew on me)
• Reverb central
• Nice delay on vocals
• Sweet chorus
• Overall delicate and lush intro, doesn’t push boundaries but is a decent stand-alone track

2) Without a Blush: 6.5
• Similar haziness to the sound of the first track
• Bittersweet lyrics about longing and regret
• Dream pop equivalent to something Chvrches might do
• Nothing too special about it but again it’s a nice tune that I ... read more

Yo wtf I actually love this... Even on Cattitude, I love Miley's flow and charisma in her last verse. Well played Miley, well played.

Least favourite track: D.R.E.A.M.

Edit: not as good as I initially thought (75/100) but still... exceeded expectations.

This great evil. Where does it come from? How'd it steal into the world? What seed, what root did it grow from? Who's doin' this? Who's killin' us? Robbing us of life and light. Mockin' us with the sight of what we might've known. Does our ruin benefit the earth? Does it help the grass to grow, the sun to shine? Is this darkness in you, too? Have you passed through this night?

What a trip.

"Surely using that rating scale you'll have albums that have the same score of 100 overall yet rank completely differently in your head? Why not have 100 as being the best possible score a song can get so your overall ratings of albums will be more varied? "

On Drake - Scorpion
"^ That's a reasonably fair and valid point. I guess at the time I wrote that I just thought a lot of people purely listened to the album just to give it a low score, even though I'm sure the album deserved it, I couldn't see the fun in listening to 25 tracks. And on the flipside not even listening to the whole thing just up to the point where you had enough then rate it. But like you said, I might have made to many assumptions... I change my mind all the time so I'm open to accepting I was wrong"
On Drake - Scorpion
"I know the obvious argument is that exactly of what you said Space Vacation. However, I'm just past the point of listening to an album (especially one of this length) that I'm fairly positive I'm not going to like just to give it a low score to make my ratings more balanced. Drake is a good example based on his status. If it was a band/artists' second or third album then even if I didn't like the first I'd give it a shot (most of the time). "
On Ben Howard - Noonday Dream
"FearFlour: oooohhh tbh I should probably give back something to Rob and this site, it has been my go to website for years now. Mark: Yeah I never really bothered even checking Ben Howard out, maybe because I didn't think much of the people I knew who loved him at school. However, my girlfriend insisted on me listening to him and i'm glad i did in the end because this album is quite special. Perhaps the second half of the album fades into nothing a bit, but the first half is really great."
On Savages - Adore Life
"I haven't listened to Savages in a while and haven't really felt the need to either.. However if they start to tease new music i'm sure i'll return to all their old stuff"
On WildChameleon's review of Lykke Li - deep end / hard rain
"What the fuck is going on right "
On MySoftBulletin's review of Beach House - 7
"Damn, I feel inspired after reading that."
