In comparison to GKMC and TPAB, DAMN. is a much more inconsistent project. There are plenty of highlights that live up to the best moments in Kendrick's discography, such as FEAR. and DUCKWORTH. However, the tracks in which Kendrick provides more melodic vocal performances like YAH., LOVE., and GOD. just did not land with me as much as I hoped they would. With that being said, despite its lowlights, DAMN. is still a great album.
I don't think that we're ever going to have another artist like Prince again. This is pop PERFECTION.
MBDTF was the album that first got me into hip hop. Therefore, I have a lot of nostalgia for it, and I feel that the quality of Kanye's writing and maximalist production on this album warrants my feelings towards it. However, the album definitely takes a noticeable dip in quality towards the tail, but the incredible first two thirds of this album more than make up for its shortcomings.
