Every note of this sounds carefully put into place to make such a cool thing, like building a ship in a bottle. Putting piece by piece in with tweezers. Ahoy.
Like it’s technically impressive, but omg this sound is everywhere now and it all just blends into one another. This would 100% hit harder if it didn’t feel like I’ve already listened to this album 8 times this year.
This is the year of electronic glitch pop ig.
While grandiose and instrumentally impressive, I find that there aren’t many moments in the album that stick with me and make me want to come back and listen to it more than a couple times.
Not saying that there aren’t any interesting moments though. I wish they had included more like their single “Numerology”, as I found that more captivating and found myself returning to that more then anything released on the album.
A really interesting indie/garage rock blend with electronica and breakbeat sprinkled throughout it, Gerling make an incredibly interesting album.
Like some of this stuff you would expect to find off a Boards of Canada album, and some off like a Mclusky album. It has insane range. And for the most part, all aspects and genres are done REALLY WELL somehow. At least the parts that maybe don’t jell the best still make an interesting listen.
Definitely one of the coolest, most interesting ... read more
I usually I will pass on this kind of music, but I fucking love this song for some reason.
I didn’t think a chiptune album would surprise me on this fine day, but this is very good. It’s just such a blast of a listen, and each song is super layered and exciting.
This has to be some of the best IDM I’ve listened to. The beats are entrancing, smooth, and masterfully layered. While some songs and the album as a whole can drag on a little, it’s a great album to put on while studying/focusing.
While nothing is a particular stand out, every song is just some really sweet, nice sounding folk pop.
So apparently this is the album he made that one time he went to 12th century Essex with his guitar, while he was waiting for his impending demise.
A super atmospheric prog rock experience, with some super tight, dreamy passages and cool use of synths.
This reminds me a lot of Squid. Has some really cool post/indie rock moments.
Having a live performance where there are 4 men hooked up to EEG's is a super cool concept in theory, reading their brain signals and converting it to noise. It just doesn't achieve much in practice.
When the man is calm the noise is calm, when the man starts to squirm like a worm the noise get loud and pitchy. If you see the actual live performance its basically 3 guys meditating with Rudolf Eb.er occasionally having a seizure and making a wall of loud screechy rapidly changing ... read more
Its good for what it is, a rhythm game ost.
By itself its not great, quite annoying in fact, but pairing it with the game (whats its meant to primarily be for) is where it clicks. It doesnt really work unless youve played the game, as you can appreciate it much more.
I picked it up on vinyl recently, not so much for how amazing the soundtrack is, but for the nostalgia of it. It serves it purpose for that and i can appreciate it for the puzzle piece it played in the game that was amazing ... read more
