The Smiths - The Smiths

cool record, but definite different vibe to what they would make, including what is still their best, the queen is dead. much more upbeat, but still has melancholic sounds and their unique sound.

highlights: Reel Around the Fountain, This Charming Man (not listed on the tracklist?), Still Ill
least favorite: Miserable Lie

Sonic Youth - Goo

daydream nation is a classic and i seriously love it but this is, hot take, not only a better album, but also a fucking badass album cover. i will die on that hill.

John Coltrane - A Love Supreme

the first full on jazz album ive ever heard and it was... something else. ive always loved jazz but it feels like ive never heard jazz before and only just have. it really is a one of a kind album that can only be described as an experience. also, coming off of a few GY!BE albums, it makes me feel like in a way post rock is a sort of jazz rock/modern jazz genre less so in how they sound the same, but the emphasis on instruments and sending messages through insturmentals rather than lyrics. just ... read more

Blonde Redhead - Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons

very inconsistent tonally. it seems to be going for some sort of theme, but its difficult to grasp what the album is trying to say, and at times comes off as more of a compilation than an LP. due to this the first two instrumentals have little to no impact and are mediocre at best. however there are flashes of greatness in this album. the one two punch of hated because of great qualities and Loved despite of great faults is amazing, both are probably the greatest songs on the LP and the best ... read more

Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind

an album very clearly well made, with some exceptional tracks, and really like nothing ive ever heard before... but also something im way too dumb to understand or fully appreciate. much respect for this and still one that i enjoyed to an extent however (even tho it honestly was scary as fuck sometimes.) one that i will come back to once i have a better understanding of post rock, or after letting it marinate a little at the very least.

this is probably... my favorite live album... no... favorite album of all time. and its not even close. no other music has ever made me feel this way. i never knew music could make you feel this way. or be like this. this transcends anything else i have ever listened to. its not even fair to compare this album to anything else because no one can even hope to reach its level. unbelievable...

DNA. ELEMENT. FEAR. and DUCKWORTH. carry the fuck outta this album. only 3 features on arguably the worst songs, and aside from what i mentioned the only other notable songs are BLOOD. FEEL. PRIDE. and HUMBLE. which leaves about half an album of lower tier/forgettable kendrick songs. blows my mind this won the fucking pulitzer prize and not TPAB or mAAd city. cant say its bad tho.

the only other album thats able to feel sad and bleak while still comforting me is the queen is dead, but in a very different way. the queen is dead does it in a way where I can tell someone else feels the same way I can and I am comforted to know im not alone. this album feels more like an escape, like right after something terrible that I know is entirely my fault happens I get in my car and go for a drive, and just keep going and going, knowing what happened, knowing I fucked up, but ... read more

The Beatles - Anthology 3

by far the best of hte anthology project, with a lot of very cool and interesting alternate versions of songs (acoustic while my guitar gently weeps and the slow burn helter skelter are both really cool) as well as several potential beatles songs that were released on solo projects being released as they would most likely sound had they been beatles songs. really interesting stuff.

The Beatles - Anthology 2
63

more interesting than the first anthology album with some enjoyable alternate versions of tracks.

The Beatles - Anthology 1
52

Free as a bird is easily the best of the three new tracks released with this anthology trilogy, but its unfortunately the least enjoyable in terms of the rest of the tracks on it of the trilogy due to it focusing on probably the least interesting portion of their career.
