My Top 5 Albums Of 2021

I know, I know, there are still tons of records from this year that I need to check out, dozens probably, but I still wanna make a little year end list to sum up this year in music. I started with the whole review thing this year and I'm actually pretty satisfied, both with the progress I've made in my writing and the amount of projects I managed to review this year.

btw, here's a link to the spotify year end playlist:

and here's my linktree if you want to take a look at my other platforms (I review mainly albums and films but I upload a book or a series review every once in a while):

Anyway, without further ado here's my top 5 records of 2021:

Little Simz - Sometimes I Might Be Introvert
1.
86
Epic.
Soulful, detailed production from inlfo, great fusions of rap with neo soul, african music, rnb. Simbi's delivery is charismatic yet vulnerable. The storytelling works in so many ways, and yeah. Just an extremely enoyable project with a lot of sonic variety, epic production and awesome delivery.

Top Three Tracks: Introvert, Two Worlds Apart, Point And Kill (but honestly, I love almost every track here)
Black Country, New Road - For the first time
2.
84
Oh, boy. This album has some amazing moments. Absolute madness. I love it. The writing is interesting, the production is thick, the chemistry between all the insturments is over the top. Yeah, give it a listen.

Top Three Tracks: Opus, Sunglasses, Science Fair
Lingua Ignota - SINNER GET READY
3.
84
A moving, dark and haunting album for sure. Lingua Ignota spilled her tortured soul into this project, and the result is a disturbing, sorrowful dive into an abusive relationship.

Top Three Tracks: MANY HANDS, THE ORDER OF SPIRITUAL VIRGINS, PENNSYLVANIA FURNACE
Tyler, the Creator - CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST
4.
83
After two critically acclaimed albums, Tyler strikes again with another great project. This one's full of bangers, awesome features and some emotional depth too, dealing with how success has affected Tyler and a troublesome love triangle. Strong vibes here.

Top Three Tracks: CORSO, WUSYANAME, JUGGERNAUT
Genesis Owusu - Smiling With No Teeth
5.
83
In his promising, ambitious debut album, Genesis Owusu shows a lot of potential, combining funk, neo soul and hip hop with a lot of personality. The concept is intriguing as well, and I'm definitely curious regarding Owusu's future projects.

Top Three Tracks: Easy, Waitin' On Ya, Bye Bye
