This is just boring. The album had the potential to go somewhere, especially with TRIGGER being one of the first tracks, but unfortunately nothing happens. BEAUTIFUL MADNESS plays it way too safe to the point where this just feels like a compilation of songs you'd listen playing in the background of a fashion show.
Might be my favorite debut of all time. Differing melodies and genres all across the album with beautiful blends of pop and flamenco alike ROSALÍA’s MOTOMAMI, but a lot more daring. The risks taken by Ralphie Choo certainly pay off. From infectious energetic beats to slower ballads, SUPERNOVA invites you into exploring such a variated range of artistic styles without making it feel awkward. This is magnificent.
HALO might just have some of the best production of the year so far, but the transitions between songs prevent me from rating this any higher. Regardless, it remains pretty generic and average for the most part anyway and fails to take any interesting direction by the end.
I really tried, but I simply could not care less for this album with the exception of THE PLAGUE, MONOPOLY MAN's outro, THE LAST TWO PEOPLE ON EARTH's outro, and maybe THE VATICAN. Everything else sounded extremely monotonical and failed to actually represent anything alike hell or a dystopian world. Of course I didn't come into this with the expectation that it would be something reminiscent of, say, Arca's "Mutant", but this was just such a big let down. CHATROOM ... read more
So loud it's bound to invade whatever else it is that you're doing and demand you give it your undivided attention. With excellent samples from their first LP, Los Thuthanaka continue to ride an extraterrestrial world building wave, much like in their previous projects, though somehow a lot sadder.
I'm normally someone who likes analizing production over lyrics and vocals. However, with Fetch the Bolt Cutters, Fiona Apple incentivizes you into looking at her brilliant song writing and narration (+ vocals), which I loved. I believe all songs stand out but Drumset, though, generally, the project maintained a consistent level of quality and kept me hooked all throughout. It's not often the case that an album grows on me exponentially as I relisten to it. Last example I can recall ... read more
An amazing debut that's bound to make you get up from your seat and dance.
It's difficult for me to take this record seriously 6 months after its release.
Experimental enough to keep you hooked all throughout and super short and easy to digest. It also doesn't hurt that How To Teleport is so evocative of Los Thuthanaka's self-titled project.
Filled with production I wouldn't care about much, though some of it did have potential. The mixtape simply isn't experimental or risky enough for me and the vocals, while at times complimentary to the beats behind them, do not work most of the time.
i Music Listen is composed of beautiful blends of keyboard and guitar instrumentals and electronic production, but I also believe a lot of the songs are fillers. By the 5th track I've already gotten the point and the rest feels too redundant, but it's good nonetheless. This is very alike AKRIILA's epistolares, but toned down a notch.
Extremely fun and catchy with loud, disorienting production. My only problem with WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA is its structure and rollout. I disliked how Slayyyter opted to release 5 singles dating back to 6 and a half months ago. It rose the expectations for the project up for me and ended up feeling a little bit disappointing when it finally dropped. By having all 5 singles have this 'cranking' -I don't know how else to put it- production, I had the expectation that the rest of the ... read more
