Siouxsie and the Banshees and their album Superstition was their first dive in the 90’s since Peepshow back in 1988. The only gap filler for hardcore Banshees fans was the album Boomerang by The Creatures. So the fans really didn’t know what the next step was for the group since Peepshow had so much compacted experimentation that it goes almost at borderline insanity. How would the Banshees release something in the climate of the 90s when different acts were taking over the youth of ... read more
Siouxsie and the Banshees and their album Through The Looking Glass was a time for the group to take a bit of a break from making original music. The album’s idea has actually been in the backs of their minds for years since they released Dear Prudence back in 1983. In fact it wasn’t even gonna be a full album, it was gonna be an ep. This was also the last full length studio album to be recorded with John Valentine Carruthers and for undisclosed reasons he got out of the band. ... read more
Siouxsie and the Banshees and their album Hyaena was yet another change in direction for the group. A friend of mine considered this a transitional album from A Kiss In The Dreamhouse to Tinderbox and I see it. There’s elements of the Dreamhouse experimentation here but there is a new found beauty in the songwriting that Robert Smith of The Cure gave. Yes that’s right, for those of you who don’t know Robert Smith was in the Banshees twice. Once to fill in the Join Hands tour ... read more
Siouxsie and the Banshees and their album Kaleidoscope was the first major change the Banshees would have. After the success of their albums The Scream and Join Hands the band was split between two camps. Siouxsie Sioux and Steven Severin vs Kenny Morris and John McKay. The drift mainly began with the recording of Join Hands with a lot of tension with the outside American producer Mike Stavrou. Kenny said that the producer didn’t even like the band and didn’t care about how the ... read more
Siouxsie and the Banshees and their album A Kiss In The Dreamhouse is a testament to how incredible this band is in terms of keeping things fresh and come up with unique surprises. Up until this point we have had four very solid albums with The Scream, Join Hands, Kaleidoscope, and Juju. You’d think that with the found success they achieved with John McGeoch and Budgie that they would reap it by making another Juju. However that isn’t the case. Siouxsie has went on record saying ... read more
This album going into it I thought would be pure dogass but honestly I don’t hate it. That isn’t to say I love it. There is good songwriting but there is a lack in production and nuance. To sum it up this is the kind of music you’d listen to in a chick flick. Its post brit pop which is basically just in my opinion very stripped down shoegaze and grunge. So just non offensive cracker rock. It felt like really dry The Bends by Radiohead. 6/10.
Siouxsie and the Banshees and their beginning is some of the most interesting in music history. They were birthed in the London punk scene. At the time the group was formed by two members of the Sex Pistols Bromley Contingent. Steven Baily and Susan Ballion would take something as a dare for an upcoming punk festival and would unite with Marco Pirroni on guitar and Sid Vicious on drums. This would be the first lineup of “Suzie and the Banshees”. Without any knowledge of how to make ... read more
Siouxsie and the Banshees and their most critically acclaimed Juju is such an iconic album for the alternative rock genre and a key inspiration to the goth rock genre. Up until this point they’ve released 3 solid albums but they really didn’t skyrocket them to legendary status until the release of Juju. It’s a much direct and straightforward release than its predecessor Kaleidoscope, which was more of an experimental record. This is the second album to be recorded with John ... read more
Siouxsie and the Banshees and their album Tinderbox was an interesting experience for me. The first time I’ve listened to them was in 2022 in an album exchange I had with my best friend. From then I thought the album was phenomenal. I’m talking 9.5-10 territory. However I never really gave more Banshees music or this album another go until a year later. The reason being is because I am a serial completionist for discographies good or bad because I’m that much of a music lover. ... read more
Listening to the album Violator butt ass naked was an experence. Other than my balls freezing 10/10 would recommend.
This album solidified how terrible this band is. Not only was my day fucking ruined by listening to them but I could’ve lived my whole life without listening to them and not miss a thing. This tempts me to move all my 0 score reviews to a minimum of 5 on the score out of 100 on the merit that they aren’t fucking Neutral Milk Hotel. This and their first release are the worst pieces of shit I’ve ever heard. It’s fucking random bullshit and it’s not good. I’m ... read more
