Bojana Vunturišević reminds me of Caroline Polachek in a couple of ways. Both of them fronted alternative bands (Svi na Pod! and Chairlift) and both subsequently found more solo fame as art pop divas who sided with a current alternative pop trend. In the case of Vunturišević, she takes a lot of elements of currently popular music in the Balkans and subverts them with a more feminist edge in the lyrics and song themes. While some songs really do sound like a lot of acts off the Bassivity Digital label that Vunturišević is on, I can't deny the more interesting production and better songwriting than 95% of the label's artists. Many may draw parallels with another signee - Senidah, but I think there is ample room for both and many more other interesting female pop artists of this kind.
