Atmosphere building is a real strength of "Loom"; a record that seems to envelop and entrance the listener. Katie Gately recently lost her mother and this album is dedicated to her. So you would imagine this to be a very emotional listen. However, I found the sounds to be sterile to an extent. The production was inconsistent and some of the mixing was downright lazy. The songwriting is almost too cryptic for its own good but it can also be endearing at times. I think Gately needs to really look within and work on focusing on a cohesive sound going forward.
