Bladee - EXETER

Personally, I’ve never been able to get into the whole Scandinavian trap thing. I recognize and respect their place in being ahead of their time stylistically in hip hop but it’s never been something I voluntarily seek out.
Bladee is one of those pioneers. To me, his music has always sounded like a less relatable NAV. On this record, the same stands. The vocals of the drain gang are just so weak. There is little if any passion and it’s nearly impossible to tell what he’s saying half the time. There are a few nice flows here and there even if it sounds like a different language.
Over everything, EXETER is saved by its quirky, poppy, and unique production. There’s these little moments of clarity that allow the listener to reflect and if you just look at it from a vibe standpoint, you won’t be too disappointed.
Overall though for me, it’s just another drain gang project with a little bit better production.
