plastic beach manages to mask melancholic undertones and messages with gorgeous production, all while maintaining their impact on themes such as mass consumerism and global warming. very gorgeous album that doesn’t feel too bloated despite the 16 song length
some of will toledo’s best writing and riffs, though feels it overstays its welcome at times.
yeah i honestly think this is just alright. i feel that the beginning stars off very strong but starts to deteriorate towards the end.
idk maybe i just like Chaser too much ๐๐
came into this thinking it would sound like bury me at makeout creek, and honesty I have no idea what to make out of it.
I'll be brutally honest, I am a bit disappointed with how this album came out. With releasing the singles Where's my Phone and I'll Change for You, my expectation were insanely high, which I feel the album itself failed to meet.
It's not a bad album by any means, but it does feel kind of like your run of the mill Mitski album. Nothing really stands out ... read more
this is my first impression of quadeca, which looking at the comments i assume is a good thing, and damn this blew my expectations.
vanisher, horizon scraper feels incredibly ambitious and dreamlike. an incredibly captivating concept album with its powerful lyricism.
honestly… i just picked this cause i saw it was the 5th best rated album of 2025… also the cover art REALLY drew me in-
the mocking stars is an album of pure magic and whimsy. spoken word poetry music hasn’t really been something that has interested me ever but this was such a fun listen. if you want anything that’s chill and fun, this is the perfect album.
the only thing i’ve heard from djo is chateau and end of beginning so i went into this not really knowing what to expect. i feel like it’s your standard run of the mill indie album. nothing bad about that! there wasn’t really much that really stood out but overall it was a really good vibe listen!
tyler claiming that no one should take this album seriously, as it’s only purpose is to be a dance album made me go into this album with pretty low expectations. don’t tap the glass isn’t a good listen, i just don’t really classify it as a “dance” album. if we detract from tyler’s intention of the album, i feel that majority of the tracks on here are weaker in his discography as a whole.
although there are a few highlights, i feel that "a matter of time" is very mixed as laufey finds herself in a more poppy genre instead of her usual jazz.
i really did enjoy this album. "ultraviolence" truly encapsulates lana's most haunting vocals of all of her albums.
freddie gibbs is already an incredible rapper. but with madlib producing the album, the result of the two is incredible
i mainly wanted to try this album out cause i fell in love with the cover art. “lost dogs” is a very chill and melancholic listen with beautiful instruments. though i do have my gripes, specifically with the vocals, as i don’t feel like that this type of singing really fits with the production. overall though i do really enjoy this a lot and i could see myself coming back to it a lot.
the lyricism, instrumentals and vocals from jeff magnum makes this such a triumphant album that aged so well throughout the years. it almost as if you, the listener, is on an adventure.
look… i really appreciate tyler’s attempt to make a vulnerable album, but unfortunately i don’t think the album as a whole delivers on his central message of “taking your mask off.” i feel that some songs really should have not been added to an album as vulnerable as chromakopia and instead saved for something less serious. if that were the case then i feel like this album would easily be his second best.
