The Kinks - The Kink Kontroversy

After establishing themselves as heavy hitters of the UK mid-60’s garage and mod scenes, Ray and brother Dave Davies and the rest of the Kinks started to show a lot of growth and potential on their third studio album The Kinks Kontrovery. For fans of their early energy found on “You Really Got Me, you get a fantastic bluesy opener in “Milk Cow Blues” and strong single “Till the End of the Day”, as elsewhere we get other great ones in “Where Have All the Good Times Gone”, the carefree “I Am Free” and “I'm On an Island” and highly catchy “It's Too Late”. The deluxe edition benefits from the addition of the funny ridicule of the culture “Dedicated Follower of Fashion” and groovy ode to being ok at home in “Sittin’ on My Sofa”. The Kinks Kontrovery still might find the Kinks sounding a lot like their contemporaries, but it’s still a great listen and in just one year Ray Davies songwriting would be taking them in a more exciting direction.

Favorite Tracks: Milk Cow Blues, Gotta Get the First Plane Home, I Am Free, Till the End of the Day, I'm On an Island, Where Have All the Good Times Gone, It's Too Late, Dedicated Follower of Fashion
