The biggest artist signed to Drake's OVO label (after Drake himself of course), PARTYNEXTDOOR finally released his follow up full length album after P3 in 2016. And after listening to PARTYMOBILE several times after release: it became very clear to me that PND has absolutely no interest in developing, progressing and really making anything that doesn't fit his single lane of ambient cliche RnB (except some new appreciation for Caribbean music now). In fact a very strong argument can be made ... read more

"I Disagree" is a very addictive album. For me personally, I found the combination of catchy pop melodies, with metal guitars and some J-Pop influenced structures very satisfying and refreshing from a western artist. It was a very pleasing and engaging listen, that had me at the very least head-bobbing all the way throughout. All the individual elements worked for me; from the dreamy, hazy ethereal moments, to the industrial & metal bridges to the edgy nu-metal meets Billie Eilish ... read more

"A Written Testimony" is not the Ten Year Album. It's not the solo album that fans have been asking from one of the most talented and mesmerizing MC's of all time - Jay Electronica. Instead, Roc Nation & Jay Z were summoned to give Jay Elec the support to get him on his feet once again, as well as the army & ammo he needed to wage war. Is this the album that fans will treasure & remember Jay Elec for?

Being the titans of the genre; this LP feels like the calm before the ... read more

"The Slow Rush" is an oxymoron about how fast or slow time can go. Kevin Parker has put out a conceptually based album exploring the different ways time flows. Everything from the title of the album to the artwork suggests those themes and perhaps also the theme of life moving at a pace that is overwhelming. The songs are very electronic and make extensive use of loops both melodic and percussive, suggesting the reflection of repetition. It's an hour long deep dive of the cyclical ... read more

My first reaction in the last seconds of the track ' Cosmic ' was "wow how amazing is this project", followed quickly by my second reaction: "I WANT MORE!!" This 'hacked' collection of hard-hitting, neck breaking bangers is meticulously crafted and performed to the highest standard. Track after track, I love the energy, the style and the modern boom-bap take with some slick D.I.Y experimental production that Kenny held back a bit, but did so well when it was used. I mean ... read more

@soundworld - Thanks for the follow! I need to spin Mac Miller's album. So many folks in AOTY really like it. Cheers. - daFigz™
