DaBaby is someone that I've really been sleeping on, and just sort of wrote him off as a generic trap rapper that only really was good as a feature artist. And I'm gonna be honest, his feature game is fucking amazing, he can make the shittiest trap song (like "Hot Shower") and he can just completely save and carry an entire song by himself. So with that, and his waves of memes that have been invading my twitter and YouTube pages, I decided to finally give DaBaby a chance with his debut.
And honestly, I really did like this album, and honestly this could be up there with one of my favorites of the trap rap genre. He has that Lil Uzi Vert and Playboi Carti charisma, but in a way that makes his style feel more unique than those guys, and his flow, while one note, is really fun a good majority of the time on this album. And the instrumentals and production is surprisingly solid, however it does kinda fall apart near the end. And the features for the most part, are pretty damn good, as Offset, Rich Homie Quan and Stunna 4 Vegas kill their verses on here and the only real weak link on here was obviously Rich The Kid, but what do you expect tbh. But yeah, other than that I guess the only other problems I had on here were DaBaby's hooks not really sticking out most of the time, and the ending just lifted from one of his past mixtapes and not really ending in the strongest way that it could've, and the one minute songs just don't need to exist to be completely honest, but still overall, this was honestly really fun. One of those 'turn your brain off' albums that shouldn't be taken seriously, but are always welcome.
