HOLY BANGERS!!!

Nu Metal been making one hell of a resurgence these past couple years, this album genuinely is one of the best examples of that. Some of the most fun I’ve had with this style of metal in a hot minute, with some really fun as fuck production and vocals. Doesn’t seem like these guys are taking themselves too seriously, so that makes it even better with its fun little vibe across its runtime. A few moments I think where the magic runs a little thin here and there, but ... read more

Heavenly - Heavenly Vs. Satan

I think I’m falling in love with this band.

“Heavenly VS Satan” is such a fun album. It’s not the emotional powerhouse that “Atta Girl” was, but it’s still an immensely fun and carefree vibe that I just feel in love with through the runtime. Tracks 1-5 are just so fun and snarky I just love them so much for that. Again, I def don’t think this reaches quite the same heights as the EP, but still, this is def a strong ass start for the band Good ass ... read more

Brief Review: “Fast Car” clears basically clears the whole album easily. But even still, this is still an insanely solid folk record. Not really much else to see here, but still, it’s quite a damn great piece of folk tunes. Some amazing writing, Tracy’s vocals are great and generally the production is just great. Great record.
Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

I’ve always kinda associated Elton with the whole boomer era of music that just wasn’t really worth my time, but I’ve learned over the years that that ideology is completely stupid. So I finally sat down and listened to this album in full, and honestly… yeah this shit rocks. I think the first 4 tracks are def front loaded with some of the most iconic moments in rock history. “Bennie and the Jets” and “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” really do just ... read more

Carly Rae Jepsen - E•MO•TION: Side B

Brief Review: Not quite as consistently amazing as the A-Side of the album, but these B-Sides still have that fun carefree energy that made the OG album so special for me. Makes sense why some of these were cut from the album, but still, a fun little extension.
Oliver Anthony - Rich Men North of Richmond

Sucks cause the general sentiment of the song is something I have a personal connection with. But MAN that welfare line and just the general way conservatives have inducted him in their culture wave just ruins the song for me. Sucks cause otherwise this would’ve been right up my alley.
Taylor Swift - 1989

You know that running joke in Sesame Street where Elmo has beef with a rock purely on the fact that it’s a rock? Replace the rock with Taylors music, and generally that’s how I’ve felt with a lot of her stuff. No matter how hard I try, I just can’t find myself caring about her music, and it lowkey kinda frustrates me.

However, unlike Elmo, I tried putting my differences aside and gave “1989” here as fair of a shot as I could. And… to its credit, ... read more

Carly Rae Jepsen - E•MO•TION

My only real exposure to CRJs work was the smash hit Call Me Maybe, so off of that I was never really intrigued enough to check her other works out. Safe to say that this album pretty much blew all expectations out of the water. “E•MO•TION” is a fucking amazing Synthpop bangers album. First 4 tracks especially are so dan good, genuinely some top contenders for best songs of the decade for damn sure. Sadly I feel like the rest of the album doesn’t quite reach those ... read more
Ben Levin Group - The Wave That Got Away

Brief Review: Solid bit of depressive folk. Lyrics hit quite a personal touch, and I think the instrumentation and vocals add a lot to the experience too. Sadly didn’t hit me like it has for other people, but still, pretty good.
Lorde - Melodrama

Never really got that much into Lorde before, so thought I’d finally change that here, and my god, this was so much better than I was anticipating. “Melodrama” is an album with a perfectly fitting album title, with some of the easily best production of the 2010s. Adored the writing on here, almost every song on here just hit me like a semi truck dosed in lemon juice. Vocals are on point throughout all of this album, too. It’s just an amazingly solid pop album, def one of ... read more

Easily one of the best K-Pop records Ive ever heard.

Always seen this album get tossed around in the sphere of good k-pop albums, so I decided to jump in and see what the buzz was all about. This EP is what I feel a lot of K Pop stuff fails to do, especially in the mainstream. It’s fun. It’s a continuous engaging experience that puts a smile on my face for basically its entire runtime. It is easily a top 5 k pop album for damn sure. Glad I finally checked it out.

Wilbur Soot - Mammalian Sighing Reflex

Brief Review: Wilbur comes back with a solo project thats… actually pretty good. I’d say this is around the same level of quality as his Lovejoy album this year, so if you’re looking for a more folk centric record from Wilbur, this is prob gonna be something to look into. Not much else to say, just a damn solid project.

The Clash - The Clash

Brief Review: Not as grand of a statement as “London Calling”, but even still, The Clashes self titled debut is a damn solid founding project for the punk movement of the 70s. Not a whole lot else to say about it, considering how open and shut of a case this is nowadays for the genre. But still, a damn solid punk album all these years later.

THANK YOU @BradTasteMusic FOR BRINGING THIS ALBUM TO MY ATTENTION, THIS SHIT FUCKING RULES!!!

I had no idea who these gals were or what I was bouta get myself into, but DAMN, THIS SHIT GOES HARDER THAN DIAMONDS! Everything about this album just goes hard as fuck and is just so entertaining to boot. Vocals are punchy and aggressive in the exact way I look for in this type of genre, the production is top notch and just goes hard as FUCK! Legit some of the most fun Ive had with a punk record in a ... read more

Personally I’m more of a The Clash guy myself, but DAMN is this a good ass punk album.

Clear to see how this was influential to basically all punk music in the coming years, as the aggression and plain absurdity are just as prevalent on here as they would be for many other punk records in the future. I think the vocals can be a bit too much in that style of British Punk where it kinda just devolves into indecipherable wails without the lyrics front and center, but thats really just a ... read more
