Duster - Stratosphere
100
Ok I was finally able to put into words my connection with Stratosphere and explain why it just clicked with me so much. Haven't written anything this size in months, so uh, yeah.

My grandfather has a cottage in Vermont right on Lake Champlain. When we stay there on weekends, since there's no wifi, I'm left quite bored, but in peace. Although I end up sleeping most of the time that we're there for, I always have fond memories of that place just because of how calm it is. I imagine myself ... read more

The Danse Society - Heaven Is Waiting

Danse Society's debut "Seduction" was the kind of album that mixes truly stand-out tracks among truly forgettable standard ones. I left and took the best songs with me, having no desire to return to it. When I went on to their sophomore, "Heaven is Waiting", I was pleasantly surprised with the jump in quality and consistency. This is some of the best that the post-punk/goth genres have to offer. It sets itself apart from its mid-80s goth contemporaries through its unique and ... read more
Sufjan Stevens - The Age of Adz

This album manages to find an amazing sense of harmony and balance considering how absolutely manic and all over the place the production is. Amazingly constructed, it could have so easily turned out to be a muddy mess of noise, but instead it ended up a colourful and very emotionally resonant album. I didn't use to like it very much and for a long time kind of avoided it because it is quite a frightening beast, but just the other day I decided to give it a fair second chance, and yeah, I can ... read more
Have a Nice Life - Sea of Worry

Literally the only thing that makes this recognizable as a hanl album is the vocals. Everything else feels like any other rock album. Seriously, where did all the interesting parts of their music go? I'm all for band's changing their sound and growing, but when the change takes away almost every aspect of your music that made you so special and interesting, it's hard to encourage it.
Weyes Blood - Front Row Seat to Earth

although not as masterfully crafted as Titanic Rising, this album definitely deserves its fair share of love. It's a simply beautiful and soothing album which instrumentals greatly compliment Weyes Blood's gorgeous voice.
Sweet Trip - Velocity : Design : Comfort

I've often pondered what exactly I mean when I give an album a perfect score. Obviously it means I love it a lot, but why is a 100 so special. It's funny how if you give an album a 99, that's not at all the same score as a 100, yet they're only one number apart. Numerical ratings are pretty stupid, but it's still an interesting thing to question. Why is that sacred 100 so significant? I'd say the most sensible way to determine which albums get the perfect score is emotional and personal ... read more

hey, do you have an album of the decade? if so what is it?

thank you for the suggestion, I'll probably like some of the stuff on here!

Supp! I'm doing a challenge at the moment, the "out of my comfort-zone challenge". This is a challenge where I need to listen projects, I normally wouldn't listen too. After some listen I need to state my opinions in a review. If you would suggest an album to me, it would be great! As long as they aren't metal, hip hop or rap!

What is the first album you distinctly remember falling in love with? It's for a list.

Not so much anymore 🤙

About

following my minor attempt at coming back to this site, I concluded that it was best left as an archive and I regret all the scores that I changed. I use rym now, although I don't really write.
