This was so horrible generic its embarrassing. Each tracks blends into the other; I feel like I'm trapped inside an H&M desperately trying to escape. Seriously this ticks every single horrible stale pop trop its almost vomit inducing. I'm a bad girl, my ex is toxic, I get quirky at night, im lonely or whatever. This is one of the most soulless things I've heard so far this year and the fact it left this bad of an impression while only being 12 minutes is incredible.
This album defined my freshman and sophomore year of college. I dealt with so much heartbreak and family issues at the time I basically listened to this album once a day. Coming back to it after 5 years without having fully listened to it was such a bittersweet feeling. So many memories flooded back to me going from track to track especially when I got to tracks like Self Control, White Ferrari, and Seigfried. This is such a somber album where Frank pours out so much emotion onto the listener ... read more
Donald Glover is back and after the single from this album Lithonia I had high hopes that this would be his best record to date. Unfortunately what we got is a mixed bag with some of Donald's weakest songs to date. To start the first track H3@RT$ W3RE M3@NT TO F7¥ reminds me of stuff I heard off iridescence from Brockhampton back in 2017 but the mixing is so blown out you can barely understand him. We then lead into easily the best track off the album in Lithonia which honestly might ... read more
Denzel Curry continues to show that he’s the most consistent rapper in the game. Each project he releases is consistently solid from start to finish. His newest project feels similar to Zuu with how energetic each song is. The beats go so hard with SKED being one of my favorite songs Ive heard this year. I do think the interludes are a bit much especially for a project under 40 minutes but overall this is another banger in an already stacked catalog for Denzel.
This was one I was conflicted one. When I first listened to the album I really disliked the first half with most of the bars coming off as cringe and purposefully edgy. But after fully listening to the album twice I can say this is Eminem’s best project in forever. The main point of this album is to i show why Eminem has moved away from the Slim Shady persona that people have been begging for. Its clear that this was a dark period in his life with drugs and alcohol fueling a lot of the ... read more
The Money Store is an album of legendary status on the internet thanks to fans and critics like Anthony Fantano who notoriously gave the album his first 10 in channel history. Before I even got into different genres of music I remember trying to listen to this album to understand the hype and never got it. Even recently it took me several listens of the album from start to finish to truly appreciate the genius of this album. To start, I want to highlights the instrumentals and production; ... read more
Who knew Hip Hop and Horror could work so well together. This album feels like an old cassette police would find in the basement of some demented serial killer's house after they've been caught. The storytelling is the highlight here with clippings going into grave detail about things like: A woman who lives in the woods with grotesque features like alligator skin and a forked tongue in the woods creeping around an old decrepit cabin. The instrumentals are spine tingling slowly ... read more
Follow the Leader is like a bag of Chex-Mix. There’s some things here I love like the opening track “It’s on!” or “Freak on a Leash”. But then you have stuff like that Fred Durst song and im immediately realizing why I throw away certain parts cause of how bad they are. Overall, a fun album but a few utterly rotten songs spoil the experience now and then.
This album is an acid trip. Danny's flow and high pitched voiced alongside sometimes creepy, abstract instrumentals make for a crazy listening experience. There's some absolute bangers on this thing like: "Really Doe" "Ain't it funny" and "Dance in the water" are notable highlights for me in a incredible strong track list. Another thing I love about this album is the manic, crazy fast moments where Danny is rapping at crazy speeds and then in the ... read more
This is funny in that we're not laughing with you but at you way. Lil Dicky basically shits himself throughout this entire album and expect us to clap for him for doing so. The baked potato line is so laughable bad I cannot get it out of my head. It takes another level of genius to come up with something so stupid when you're making a song about cocaine. Yeah this shit is insulting from start to finish.
I'm struggling to understand how anyone actually likes anything off this record. Overblown production, painfully generic lyrics, and beats that are so rough its almost unreal. I understand that this is a Lil Pump record so it's really not that deep but, I would rater listen to Carti, Waka Flocka, Chief Keef, Uzi, etc. before I'd put this thing on. This is trap music for suburban white kids.
Not sure how this was a top 100 pick from apple music but still an enjoyable listen none the less. Praying for time is a gorgeous opening to the record followed by the hit single Freedom! '90. Its at this point where the record drops off a little bit with some fairly standard pop songs with nothing standout to point out until we get to the track Mothers Pride. This track recounts a story of a wife and daughter losing their husband/father to war. While I do think that the overall sentiment ... read more
The first DOOM project I ever listened to and one that holds a special place in my heart. Coming out a year after an incredible run of records from DOOM that included MM... FOOD and Madvillany this feels like the cherry on top of a historic moment in his career. This record sees DOOM and Danger Mouse collaborating together to make an Adult Swim inspired record using all of the networks iconic shows from that era such as Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Harvey Birdman, Brak, and Spaceghost. While some ... read more
The most iconic underground hip hop record ever. DOOM and Madlib combine to make the most creative, mind blowing, stylistic album you'll ever hear in the world of hip hop. The fact that over 282 samples were used across the entire record with 26 of them being on one track speaks volumes to the creative genius of this project. The entire project is 22 tracks but still only 46 minutes with no points on the record where things get stale.
Tom Sawyer is one of the greatest prog rock songs ever that is just one piece of Rush's best album. The production is sublime with gorgeous guitars and of course Neil Peart's iconic drumming. The lyrics are also a major standout with ever song transporting you into a different scene like the song "Red Barchetta" where Geddy Lee describes uncovering an old Ferrari in his uncles barn and taking for a spin in the countryside. Overall this is a fantastic record that anyone ... read more
About what I expected out of a Guns N' Roses record. Welcome to the Jungle is one of the greatest openings to a rock record hands down. Seriously I love the hell out of that track no matter how many times I've heard it. The first 30 seconds is so kickass and just oozes with personality and is a staple song for the era of sex, drugs, and rock n roll. Sweet Child O' Mine and Paradise City are also major highlights but everything else was decent but not amazing. These songs ... read more
A good example of less is sometimes more. The first half of this album is filled with so many classic tracks Like Scar Tissue, Otherside, Californication, and Parallel Universe. However, After "Easily" the album falls off a bit for me with some pretty basic alt rock tracks that don't stand out as much compared to the first half.
I love the hell out of this. The production is so smooth and soulful I cant help but bop my head to every song on here. I also love the passion Anderson .Paak puts into his singing, his energy makes every track a joy to listen to and elevate how I feel about this album a ton. This is really underrated in my opinion and a must listen for anyone trying to find a good R&B/Funk album.
You get about 25 seconds of peace at the start of this album before you're hit with some of the hardest vocals and instrumentals you'll hear this decade. Each song transitions so seamlessly into one another with dark, cut throat lyrics that play really well into the slashing guitars and blaring drums. An overall fantastic album and one of the best I've heard so far this year.
It's a guilty pleasure for sure. Most of this is boring or outright unlistenable but Break Stuff and Nookie kinda go crazy ngl.
